FET generating indefinitely - for hours non-stop.

Please help.

Thanks for this wonderful piece of software.

I have captured all the inputs, teachers, student and activities followed by troubleshooting.
instruction. but when I click start, it starts generating indefinitely for hours non-stop.

The number of teachers is 22 and activities 808.

What should I do?

I saw your file. You added the activities wrongly. You have 5 days per week, but added activities divided into say 9 per week (I also saw 10, 8, 3, 4, 6, I think). You need to divide the activities into maximum 5 per week, and make the weight of the constraints min days between activities 100% if you don't want them on the same day. Increase the duration of some of the components to 2.

There is also another possibility, to make the weight of the constraints min days between activities 0%. FET won't put more than 2 activities on the same day, so you'll get maximum 2 hours daily. But this is not perfect for activities with total duration <= 8.

I will split 10 activities per week as two 5-week activities and 8 say 4 plus 4 activities.

I think this is not what you want.

If you have an activity with total duration 10, you can split it: (2+2+2+2+2) if you want them consecutively on the same day or (1+1+1+1+1)+(1+1+1+1+1) if consecutivity does not matter.

If you have an activity with total duration 8, you might split it (2+2+2+1+1) if you want them consecutively on the same day or (1+1+1+1+1)+(1+1+1) if consecutivity does not matter.

You might want to raise the weight of the min days constraints from the default of 95% to 100% (you can do this with a single click, it is easy).

There is a teacher with the allocation of SETS for 9 activities per week and I captured as (2+2+2+2+1) splits and changed to weight constraint from 95% to 100%, min day was 1 and duration 1.

However, the timetable generated has three consecutive activities in a day, which I don't like.
The maximum activities I expect in a day should be 2- consecutively.

This bug is impossible. Min days = 1 100% cannot place 2 or more activities on the same day. You can send me your locked file to have a look.

I got your file, modified it, and sent it back to you. For the correct way to add the activities, please see the last activity (ID-s 1772 to 1776). This is what I mean with 2+2+2+2+1.

I observed you captured 10A: 1772 to 1775 activities 2/9 and 1176 1/9.

Can you explain how you captured the to reflect as such? I didn't get it.

Add an activity split into 5, with the durations of the first 4 components increased to 2 hours.
