Specifying paired time periods query

Hi,

Our college day is broken up into four periods per day and most modules are taught over two periods. What I want do is make it so that a module is taught in either periods one and two or three and four (ie not periods 2 and 3 as lunch falls in between). Can anyone advise how I can do this please?

1) Impose the constraint all activities have preferred starting times (hours) by selecting 1st and 3rd periods of all days

Or

2) simply add a break time between 2nd and 3rd period. (this works only if you don't split the activity. If you split the activity then it may be spanned over break.

Nagendra's solutions are good. I would also suggest setting the duration of the activities to 2 if you haven't already done so (I think Nagendra assumed you had done this already).
