Grimnir360

Hi

I need a danish translation of FET - I have started the translation process in a file called fet_da.ts

If you want to contribute to/review the translation don't hesitate to contact me.

Greetings,

Grimnir360

OK, you are the designated Danish translator. Thank you for your intention!

Edited to add: I would like you to translate for the latest version (5.11.0) or even for snapshot of 5.12.0 (see snapshots section). Many strings have changed starting with 5.11.0. So, if you are working on an older version, please update your translation with lupdate or send me your file and I'll update it.

I don't want to put pressure on a volontary translator, but I'm curious: How is the danish translation progressing?

Thank you for your interest! I sent Grimnir360 a personal message and an e-mail, to ask him to see this thread.

I do not know what to say. Grimnir360 seems not to respond to e-mail or private message. Do you have a suggestion on how should we handle this?

I have a proposal: maybe wait a month or less, and after that make you the official translator. And you could decide what to do if he comes with a complete translation after that.

Please tell me, David, would you like to translate FET into Danish and become the official translator? I think that after a month, on 16 March 2010, I can safely assume that the old translator lost contact with us.

David Lamhauge

As stated in a personal mail to you, I am interested in translating FET to danish.
I thought I would be contacted automatically in case of answers in this forum, but I must have forgotten to check the box beneath... :-[

OK, then let us wait until 16 March 2010 (a month after your message). If Grimnir360 does not answer, I must assume connection with him was lost (I sent him an e-mail, a personal message and asked him here). On that date, if I will forget to write here, please remind me. I suppose there is no chance that he'll answer, but let's wait.

I'll make you official translator after that day. Then, if he comes with another translation, you'll decide what to do.

Liviu Lalescu

It has passed a month after the current official Danish translator (Grimnir360) did not answer so, David, if you want to become the official Danish translator, let me know and I'll put you in charge.

I have to warn you that it is not an easy job. But only the FetMainForm_template translation (an easy part) would be a good job, helping Danish people understand the FET notations.

David Lamhauge

I am ready to give it a try. Is there a file I should take over, or do I start from scratch?
David Lamhauge

So, the official Danish translator is David Lamhauge and will decide what to do if another person is interested into Danish translation.

I prefer each translator to start from scratch, and also there is no other Danish file available.

You can translate for the latest version, 5.12.3, but I prefer better for snapshot 5.13.0, which has some modified fields. Don't worry, a snapshot is as good as the official version, just the name is different.

Please test your translation after a few fields and also maybe send it to me after a few translated fields, so I can check it.

Also, I recommend you to keep backups of your file, in case everything goes wrong (because there is a lot of work invested in only one file).

Thank you!

David Lamhauge

Here is a zipped file with the danish translation in progress. So far I have worked with the main form.

I will be quite busy the next two weeks with work and family. Dont worry - I'll keep it up.

Yours, David

It looks nice.

I found some minor problems, I write them below.

Please tell me if you agree to list your e-mail in the translators or you want just the user name on FET forum (see the Translators in Help/About for example).

Also, the release of 5.13.0 will be probable in a few days (or even today). Please let me know if you want me to include your current translation into official FET the 5.13.0 version. The users will only have the main form into Danish, of course. Or you would prefer me to wait and only add your translation when it is more complete. We'll do as you wish, but if you want to include it, you should fix these minor errors and answer asap.

Also, please check your translation practically, by releasing it and renaming it like an already implemented language.

And another aspect: it would be more convenient for me if you sent me your translation by e-mail (we can also correspond here, but the attachment will be sent by e-mail).

Edited to add:

I think it would be good to wait until your translation if more complete. I am only thinking of how useful it is for a Danish user, and it may be frustrating to have an incomplete translation. But I am not sure. Maybe you know better than me.

Be careful to constraints activities same starting: time vs hour. You translated by the same words in the interface, the parenthesis contains "day+hour" and "any days" so it is clear to the user. But in the constraints' description, in the future, you'll need to translate with different words for time and hour, because otherwise the constraints look the same.

Small problems:

1) Language should be translated as "Sprog/Language", so that if other people select Danish by mistake, they can revert the language.

2) Timetable menu (Skema), the accelerators for View (teachers) - &laerere and Generate multiple - f&lere - are the same. Maybe make &flere.

3) A students set's not available times - there is a dash "-" between elev and saets - is that right? The others do not have this.

4) I see in some places "pr dag" and in other places "daglig" - could you use a unified notation (if you want)?

5) Students space constraints, max building changes per day for a students set, bygninger should be followed by skifter?

6) Space constraints->Subjects and activity tags, a subject + an activity tag have a set of preferred rooms - the notation is not like the other constraints (like subject preferred rooms or activity preferred rooms or activity tag preferred rooms) - it contains saet instead of flere - could you make it similar to the others?
