Title: Min/Max days and gaps
Post by: Chafik Graiguer on August 25, 2010, 05:18:49 PM
I am not sure if I understand this constraints accuraltely:
-Min gaps (hours) between a set of activties
Are those gaps really gaps or Min distance in hours between two activities?
Suppose we want two activities to be at least two hours apart, so they are not consecutives (for example hard subjetcs: Maths and physics)
How to acheive this:
Math --- Gymna ---- French ---- Physics
NOT this:
Math --- Free ---- Free ---- Physics
?

Basically, I want to ensure that:
a- two activities are not consecutive
b- two activities are Min n hours apart
c- use Activity tags rather than entering all activities, so all activities tagged Tag1 are never consecutive with activities tagged Tag2

I would like to have The Tag feature for other constraints like : Min/Max days between a set of activities

These are hours (which may be occupied with other activities), so Math - Gymna - Free - Physics is possible, and possible are also your examples (Math--- Gymna----French ----Physics, Math--- Free ---- Free ----Physics).

You can add more tags to an activity. Then, you may use constraint teacher (students set) activity tag max hours continuously, if you need at least one hour in between.

If you need at least 2 hours in between, you must use min gaps between activities.

If my undestanding is good, this will induce gaps which I want to avoid
Mainly I want Physics and Math to be 2 hours apart without gaps
So:
Math --- Gymna ---- French ---- Physics  --->Wanted
Math --- Gymna ---- Free ---- Physics -->Unwanted
Math --- Free ---- French ---- Physics  -->Unwanted
Math --- Free ---- Free ---- Physics  -->Unwanted

If you have max gaps for students and teachers = 0, then the unwanted situations are filtered out.

Good
This important info should be added to the online help!!
Now, how about applying this contraint globally? I mean every activities with subject (or tag) Math sould be 2 hours apart from an activity with subject (or tag) Physics?
Entering all activities, one by one is tedious
How it is easy/possible to add: Min gaps between a set of activites with a tag ?
Edited to add: or better:
Min gaps between two subjects/tag

OK, I also wrote this down.

It is not very difficult.

Thanks
Waiting for such a feature..

But I cannot promise, because it does not looks that suggestive as a constraint (it is not exactly "FET style"). Also, even if I thought of a nicer name/style, I still cannot guarantee I'll add it soon.

Yes I know  :)
Todo list isnot a promise
However, think about it as a way to Spread subjects evently over the day
We really need it here in Morocco,so some gaps  should be allowed between some subjects..

Ii is like the other constraint:
Spread activity evently ver the week

I hope until (maybe) then, you can use constraint min gaps between activities or constraint activity tag max hours continuously.
