Title: Different schedules each week
Post by: Enrique Castro on March 27, 2011, 08:58:46 PM
Hi:
I am considering to use FET for our college timetable problemas. However, I am quite lost.
It seems that FET can optimize a weeky timetable, and just that. I mean, all weeks have the same classes the same hours.  ¿is this right?

The problem  I have to solve is to allocate  a fixed number of activitiies in a period of several weeks. For instance, we have courses like
- Biochemistry: 40 lectures, 16 labs, 14 seminars
- History:  30 lectures, 10 labs, 30 seminars
etc. up to 6 similar courses in a 15 weeks period.
Each for two student groups/sections per class. And several "classes" sharing time and classrroms

So, we do not have a fixed number of activities per week , but a fixed total number of activities per term.

Can FET address this type of problem?, resulting  in a calendar with different activities on different weeks?

In addition, can FET manage holidays dates?

Thanks

You can see that FET max days per "week" is 35. You can increase this value to 15*7=105 (modify FET sources) and generate a timetable. A FET week will have 105 days -> the whole term for your institution.

The holidays are handled by breaks, maybe.

I am not sure this will work for you, maybe you know better than me, having the information above.
