Title: multiple students, teachers, grades
Post by: nadhall on June 14, 2014, 02:39:27 PM
good morning

I have an issue where I am trying to timetable a group of subjects which run simultaneously, taught by different teachers but some of the classes for some of the teachers consist of students from two different grade levels.

example

in grade 12 biology, economics, electricity, geography and law are done at the same time
in grade 13 chemistry, economics, geography and law are done at the same time

the economics, geography and law classes consist of both grades 12 and 13 students having these subjects at the same time.

How do I input the data into FET

split year 12 into biology, economics, electricity, geography and law.
split year 13 into chemistry, economics, geography and law.

if you also have classes (or other lines) in that year, i recommend to do it by split year automaticly.
please read chapter "Years, groups and subgroups"
http://www.timetabling.de/manual/FET-manual.en.html#id_12

if you want to add an economics, geography and law activity, then simply add 2 students set (for example 12eco and 13eco) into a single activity.

will this allow all subjects to be done simultaneously?

yes

more detailed:
by this it can be simultaneously, but it must not be. this is highly recommended, because you will get best timetables by that.
many guys think it must be simultaneously, even that is not true. only in very rare cases. it it must be, then you also need to add same starting time (day+hour) constraints.
