Title: Preferred Rooms Constraint
Post by: meganmassaro on June 28, 2016, 02:36:13 PM
Hi,

Some of my activities are partially hybrids of two subjects, with two sections each. When I add preferred rooms, I'll need two or four rooms to accommodate. Then I separate them out for some of their meetings, using the same rooms.  I haven't been able to run a successful timetable yet. Is that because the system is reading them as different classes?

Thanks.

Hello,

I am not sure I understand correctly. But I can explain these:

- Each activity can take place in a single room. If you add a constraint preferred rooms for one (or more) activities, FET will choose semi-randomly from this set of rooms a suitable room for that activity.

- If you want an activity to take place on more rooms, you can use dummy activities (no teachers, no students) to occupy other rooms, and constrain the activities to start at the same time.

What do you mean by class? Students set or room?

You also might want to attach your file, if it is not private, or send it by email, if it is private.

If you can describe your problem more detailed, I might understand better.
