Title: 'unspecified' teacher free time request
Post by: Jan Smit on August 23, 2016, 10:10:18 PM
Hello,

is there a possibility to put in a additional unspecific time requests in FET?
For example: A teacher wants half a day off per week. Or a whole day. The actual planning of this time off is up to FET.

Thanks in advance,
Jan

a whole day free:
FET -> Data -> Timeconstraints -> Teachers -> Max days per week

a half day:
difficult to say, since i don't know your dataset. there are are a lot of teachers constraints. maybe check if it isn't better to begin with a max hours per day constraint.
if you have "large days", and need half day free, maybe work with the algerian or morocco custom version, since that version are special variants for exacly that problem.
in "worst" case you can also work with the offical FET variant and simply add a "large" pseudo activity. (Just the teacher, no students, subject "Free").

I think it is too difficult for the program to choose between a half day or a whole day. You might want to try with a half day, using a dummy activity, as Volker said. Add a constraint activity preferred starting time for this dummy activity, so it can start only morning or lunch.

Thank you very much for these answers! Makes me happy when ppl reply so quickly.
I think both solutions will work: for half a day a pseudo activity and maxdaysperweek for a whole day off.
