Post by: Volker Dirr on May 14, 2010, 10:13:49 AM
Hallo,

i just read about Learning Management System like moodle. looks interesting.
Anybody in this forum who use moodle or other Learning Management Systems? Maybe you tested it also practicaly and can write a few advantages or disadvantages of your software?

if you don't know such software maybe have a look at
http://moodle.org/

and/or search for "Learning Management System" or "Virtual Learning Environment" in the internet.

Hi Volker, we use it at school as an additional tool. For example I use it as a message board, so I can leave links and activities for my students. Some teachers use it as discussion boards. Some others have created full courses in there, and they mark the students in moodle. Post the activities, the students answer, the teacher checks and posts the marks. All this messaging is private. I mean, other students can't see each other's work or marks.
I don't use moodle thouoghly, but what else would you like to know?

thank you for information. our students are around 10 to 17 years old. (Grade 6 to 10). many students have internet/computer at home, but not all (i asked in a few classes a few days ago and there are still some students per class without an computer/internet at home.)
we have around 600 students at school, but "only" 2 computer rooms.
so i ask myself if it is useful to use learning management system in that situation.

i guess you have less students without internet/computer at home and you have more computers at school.
