Hello
I would like to make some manual entries for both teachers and students before running FET. These are common activities coming from the 'master timetable'. Can the 'student not available' constraint include details of what the students are doing at the blocked time?
You can add a new subject with 'common activity' (or any other name).
Add new activities to that students with the new subject, but without teachers.
Add an activity has a preferred time constraints.
You can do similar tricks for teachers.
We call those activities "pseudo" activities.
These aren't pseudo activities though. Both the students and teachers are engaged in class during some slots (which varies across teachers). These 'fixtures' are specified by the college administration. In the final timetables, I'd want these activities to be displayed accurately, not as a 'pseudo' activity.
Those 'pseudo activities' will be displayed accurately. Why do you think that they won't be displayed?
I meant I want them to be displayed with the correct details. Can I enter a pseudo activity where class 2A is studying English on Monday at 9AM and 1B is studying Environment on Tuesday at 12? Will it show as "English" and "Environment" respectively in the final timetables?
yes. of course it will be displayed with the subject names.
Ok, I get it. I can create all subjects that the students study aa a common activity, and use a constraint of preferred time to 'fix' then in the timetable.
I want to do similar for the teachers. How to do that?
Should I add a subject for teacher without a class to teach? That will be her pseudo activity?
'pseudo' is just a 'name' (or 'definition') that is used in the activity planning dialog.
'pseudo' in fact means: a "normal" activity just with missing teachers and/or missing students.
So you can add a "normal" activity; just without teachers and/or students. It will be visible in the timetable of course with it's subject name and activity tag names; like all other activities.
i can't tell you the "name" of the subject/pseudo activity. You need to know yourself what you want to say to the teacher. In worst case you will choose the subject name "-x-". That is the worst case, since you just do it very compliected and could do it much faster by not available time constraints. So if you want to "say" something to the teacher/students, then you should choose a "good" subject name and/or activity tag name.
Got it, thanks!
