I am just starting to learn about FET.
My school has 4 year
6, 7, 8, 9.
In which 6, 9 study morning classes from period 1 to period 5.
Years 7 and 8 study in the afternoon from periods 6 to 10.
How to do that.
Thank you very much.
Hi!
I would solve this by specifying availability time constraints for your students:
Time -> Students -> A Student's Set Not Available Times
There you may specify that your student years "Student 6" and "Student 9" are only available Mo-Fr in the first five blocks.
For the other student groups "Student 7" and "Student 8" you specify availability for Mo-Fr from block 6 to 10.
That should do the trick.
Best, Matthias
Thanks you so much.
I has more a questions.
If i have some subjects of Student 6, 9 study at Afternoon when Student 6, 9 study at Morning , i must setting this issue?.
Hi!
If you specify it in the way I described, FET will NOT schedule any activities for "Student 6" and "Student 9" in the afternoon. The constraint "Time -> Students -> A Student's Set Not Available Times" means that these student groups are not available in the afternoon. Hence, there would be no point in scheduling activities to the afternoon.
If you want to schedule it in a way that some subjects of "Student 6" and "Student 9" take place in the morning and others take place in the afternoon, you have to use another constraint instead:
Time -> Activities -> An activitiy has a set of preferred time slots
Here you can specify appropriate time slots for each subject (which is called activity in FET) individually. So you can specify for some subjects that they should take place in block 1-5 and for others that they can also take place in the afternoon. This approach is a little bit more time consuming for you, because you have to specify the constraint for each and every activity, so that you have a lot of constraints at the end. However, FET will reward you with a beautiful schedule. :)
But note: FET strives for fulfilling all constraints. So you must NOT specify both constraints in parallel, but only one type or the other. If you specify both constraints at the same time, FET will not schedule subjects to the afternoon, because the first constraint still would specify that the students do not have time at the afternoon.
Best,
Matthias
Yes, but maybe you can use constraints activities (more, plural) preferred times. And maybe you can attach activity tags to activities and use also these in the constraints.
