Title: Question on Categories
Post by: crow on September 03, 2020, 06:41:34 AM
Hi Liviu

I also learn about FET by looking at examples of different timetables.

However, I often download a .fet file, run it and wish to look
(at what the sub groups are (which is fine), i can see them) but the categories
visible
are categories of files where I had previously made automatic or manual
categories.

How do I see the categories of the file I wish to look at/study?

Please help.

This is unfortunately impossible, and I cannot see a solution to this.

I'll add this in the TODO and think of it.

Hello, Eric,

I thought and a solution is possible. I hope to implement it soon in a snapshot (preview) version, please let me know if you will help me with testing.

Unfortunately, the old files will remain as they are, but the future files will maintain the categories of the years.

Dear Crow,

Please get the snapshot from https://lalescu.ro/liviu/Backup-fet/ and test this new facility. Note that I might remove the Windows executable after a while (I cannot compile for Windows each time I release a snapshot), so keep it on your hard disk. I will keep it for you to take it now.

This facility will be only from now on, meaning you need to create firstly the divisions/categories for a year and save the file.

Hi Liviu

I have have created two fet files from scratch.
These are (a) Fet_47.0_View_Categories10A.fet and (b). Fet_47.0_View_CategoriesGr12A.fet

(a) has three categories and (b) has 4 categories.

When I load  (a), I only see the categories of (a).
The same with (b). If I load (b) I only see the categories of (b)!

This precisely what I wanted! I hope toy are going to include it in
new Version of FET. In the meantime I am going to continue to
test this version.

I include the files for your perusal.

Look for the categories of 10A and 12A in the files concerned.

Hello, Crow,

Thank you for the report! You can stop testing. Also, I don't need your test files, I trust you, as I have derived my own test files. But I saw them anyway.

I need to also add another very difficult/complicated feature to FET, so the new version will need to wait to be released, but it will surely contain this addition.

Note: You can add up to 4 files attached to a single message.
