Title: Free days (or half day) for teachers
Post by: gfwp on March 20, 2009, 05:16:48 PM
Hello,

Just evaluating FET for future use in school; in switzerland law says teacher has right for two half days in a week of free time.

More complications comes from the fact that  many teachers work in mora than one school and some of the (the young one) follows mandatory habilitation courses.

All those facts needs that teacher availabiliy should be fine grained defined. Is it possible?

cheers

Maybe you could use constraint teacher(s) interval max days per week. For instance, if the teacher must have maximum 3 (out of 5) working days in the interval 14-20. Is that useful for you?

QuoteMore complications comes from the fact that  many teachers work in mora than one school and some of the (the young one) follows mandatory habilitation courses.

That is possible. There are two possible variants for that.
Of course you need to talk with the other institution.

Variant 1:
You come to an agreement with the other school. For example that the other instituation will "use" the teacher on Monday and Wednesday. So you just add a constraint "teacher not available" at that times.

Variant 2:
You do the timetable for both schools in one FET file. So you calculate both timetable at once. (Maybe with an max building change constraint.)

Variant 2 will (maybe) find a better timetable then variant 1. But it need much more communication with the other institution, especially if you need to change the timetable because of unexpected reasons.

So even I know variant 2 can find better timetables, we always use variant 1.
