Hello, Liviu
My problem has not been solved yet
I have 40 students in class 10A1:
40 students study math and literature in class 10A1, 35 students study English, 5 students do not study English
Of the 35 students studying English, divided into 3 groups: group 1, there are 15 students studying History; Group 2 has 10 students going to local school, group 3 has 10 students going to technology school
Of the 5 students who do not study English, they are divided into 3 groups: group 1 has 2 students studying biology and chemistry; Group 2 has 2 students studying chemistry and physics; Group 3 has 1 student studying physics and chemistry.
Help me
Hello, ngo,
I think you don't need advanced split year by categories and divisions, because your structure is simple:
Year 10A1, contains 6 groups:
Group 1 (MAT, LIT, EN, HIS);
Group 2 (MAT, LIT, EN, LS);
Group 3 (MAT, LIT, EN, TS);
Group 4 (MAT, LIT, not EN, BIO & CHE);
Group 5 (MAT, LIT, not EN, CHE & PHY);
Group 6 (MAT, LIT, not EN, PHY & CHE);
Group 1 (MAT, LIT, EN, HIS) has EN studying with students in 10A2,10A4,10A5
HIS studies with students in grades 10A3, 10A6
Students studying in Group 1 (MAT, LIT, EN, HIS): EN cannot overlap time with HIS
Similar to the remaining groups: BIO must not overlap in time with CHE

You can add more students sets to an activity, or create year "10A1 EN" and add existing groups in it (you can also make Subgroup 1 (MAT, LIT, EN, HIS), Group 10A1 EN into year 10A1, and add existing subgroups in this group, or year 10 and group 10A1 EN, or similar, how you prefer, it is not difficult).
QuoteHIS studies with students in grades 10A3, 10A6
Same as above.
QuoteStudents studying in Group 1 (MAT, LIT, EN, HIS): EN cannot overlap time with HIS
Exactly.
QuoteSimilar to the remaining groups: BIO must not overlap in time with CHE
Exactly, same as above.
I followed the division Y10,Y11,Y12.
If there are many different subgroups in a class, I add a constraint EN cannot overlap time with HIS or similar. I did it. The problem takes a long time, if you have many classes and each class has many subgroups.
Thank you very much!
No, if "Group 1 (MAT, LIT, EN, HIS)" has no subgroups in it, as I said in my first post, it is by format of FET that EN will not overlap with HIS, because they have common students.
But in group 1, there is an HIS subject paired with the HIS subject of another group in class 10A2
Yes, they will have HIS together. Either create a HIS activity with more students sets, or create a year to contain this group and the others and add this year to the HIS activity.
hmm if i read that correct, then an other variant might be using the automatic split feature like this:
1. division with "EN", "BIO & CHE", "CHE & PHY" and "PHY & CHE"
2. division with "HIS", "LS" and "TS"
And then you can in fact go through the subgroups and delete all subgroups that has "HIS", "LS" or "TS"if they don't have "EN" included.
This is maybe easier, since you only need to delete instead of adding manualy. I guess that will be faster and you will probably do less bugs that way.
But in group 1, there is an HIS subject paired with the HIS subject of another group in class 10A2
Actually, I did it the way volker did, but I still had to add many constraints for the new subgroups not to overlap in time, because students going to chemistry school in this subgroup cannot overlap with Physics in the other subgroup, because Students participate in two different physics and chemistry subgroups. Thank you!
hmm.. Not sure if i understand 100%. Why don't you add both groups into that (sub)-activity if they need to share the same activity?
Hello, ngo,
I think you don't need overlapping students' structure and you can simply add 6 nonoverlapping groups in your year.
But, if I am wrong and you and Volker are right, please consider this: a students subgroup is the lowest representation, basic, and may represent a single student or more, and is independent of the other subgroups.
Two groups (or more) can contain the same subgroup, in which case they are overlapping. Years can be overlapping, too, but this is not usual.
Please study the way dividing years by categories works with some examples. Please also see file examples/FET-6/official/Germany/subactivities.fet (or something like that), see the groups and the subgroups of year 5 (unfortunately, the 2 categories and 4 / 5 divisions are not saved in the fet file).
Please then read the help of FET regarding divisions of students, I think it is in the FAQ. You need to read the help to become a proficient timetabler in FET, and if you want to ask so many questions.
