I am assisting a lower and upper level school to create a timetable. I have attached the .fet file with all the info entered.
When trying to generate, it's stays on activity 4 for over 20 hours, so this tells me that the configuration we entered is unreasonable. However I'm not sure where to tackle the problem, such as, should the weights be 95% instead? Or is the students/year structure ok?
On a side note.. the upper school has elective subjects too (subgroups?), which we have not entered as yet, as we're trying to figure out how to input this.
Any help will be useful, thank you.
Hello!
The problem is the FET mode: should be Official, not Block planning. I attach the solvable file with this simple change.
You are a star!! Thank you. It ran within seconds and I might ask for a little more assistance if necessary on the "subgroups/elective subject blocks (after also watching your videos again).
Thank you! :)
I will try to help. I will now have a walk, will be back in about 2.5 hours.
Hi Liviu,
So I am being the intermediary between the school person and yourself here.
They were trying to get the following done correctly (the message they gave me below):
How do we split the same year group as follows:
4 levels of the same subject
4 teachers in different classrooms
Same time
We are unable to generate the 4 classrooms. It generates everything as we want it but in one classroom only
I have attached the latest fet file they tried to get this right on (ignore the previous fet file).
I appreciate your willingness to help. The person at the school is so stressed out to get the timetables right before school begins.
Hello, drazeni,
I attach two possibilities (neglect the warning when you open the file, FET-6.24.1 is the next version, and it is only on my hard disk for now).
Liviu,
Just want to acknowledge and thank you very much for assisting with a (two) solution. The feedback I got from the school is that the 2nd solution was very helpful.
The person has applied your solution to the lower school and it worked, however today they are going onto the upper school (the elective subjects), which will be another test of the solution.
Your assistance has been worth gold! Thank you.
Should they encounter a roadblock that we cannot resolve, if I could message on this thread again, we'd be deeply grateful.
I am glad it helps! Yes, sure, you can post problems anytime.
