Hello!
I recently updated my laptop with more RAM. I would like to know if that would impact in performance generation.
Also, I never answered this question myself: While FET is generating (let's say 6 out of 8 processors), using my PC for others things such as YouTube, Gmail or Drive would degrade the generation performance?
Thank you!!
Hello!
FET uses very little RAM. No performance improvements.
Will not downgrade. FET uses only the specified number of threads in the multiple generation.
RAM has very very very little impact.

But how the pc would work nicely if while running FET another task is running in parallel? I try not to use the computer while it runs for fear of straining the threads as I thought.
It's deepening on what you want to do.
If you want to use your PC at the same time to work and/or watch YouTube, then it is fine that some cores should be "free" to do other tasks.
It is sadly nearly impossible to say how many cores without knowing your PC and without knowing the video that you are watching. Since videos use different codecs, videos have different resolutions, depending on your GPU, the GPU can decode the video or it can't, so the CPU must decode it ...
So keeping 1 or 2 cores free for other tasks is fine. If you notice that your videos are running slow, then you need to give more code free. If you want to know the "exact" value, then just run the other tasks only (watching Youtube, ...) and watch the task manager. If you can see there, how many cores it uses around.
You don't need to be afraid that you use too many cores. In worst case you vidoes will just be slower and generating will be a bit slower.
Or in other words: If you generate timetables and you do your other stuff and you see that the CPU usage in the taskmanager is still below 100%, then all is fine. In fact even exactly 100% is fine; sadly it is impossible to see the difference between 100% and more then 100%, so a value a bit under 100% is "better".

Thank you for your answer. I will try to follow your suggestion about Task Manager and come back if I see someting unusual
