Title: Subgroups have different subjects at the same time
Post by: Nikita Smirnov on July 11, 2025, 09:35:10 PM
Hello
Thanks for the software, it looks really useful and I hope I would finnaly understant how to use it for my needs.

I've stuck with quite a simple problem: there are some classes which are being split for some of the subjects, with different teachers, but same time.

I expected it should work this way:
E.g. there is a group 7A;
- subgroup 7A_1, have 2 hours of activity Informatics with Teacher1,
- subgroup 7A_2, have 2 hours of activity Informatics with Teacher2,
- subgroup 7A_1, have 3 hours of activity Foreign Lang. with Teacher3,
- subgroup 7A_2, have 3 hours of activity Foreign Lang. with Teacher4,

But it seems I've did something wrong and FET gives an error "subgroups have a total 40 hours" while only 35 (5d x 7h) is available, while I'm sure that would be enough.

Maybe it is required to use a "Same starting time" constraint, like the example in the guide, with
Quoteschedule sport separated by girls and boys
. But there are no restrictions they should have Informatics and the same time and Foreign at another. It is allowed to mix _1 subgroup have Informatics, while _2 have foreign language, as long as teachers are free. Teacher can have only one subgrouo at a time.

Could you please expleain how should I organize the division?

Thanks in advance!

Hello, Nikita,

Thank you! You are welcome!

Please add a year and click Divide year automatically by categories, and read the help. Maybe you need year 7, divided by 2 categories, each with 2 divisions: (informatics beginners, informatics advanced) and (English, French).

It is late now here, I'll reply tomorrow if you cannot solve your problem.

If I read his request correct, then he only need to add one extra division. Since he want a "group" 7A_1 and a "group" 7A_2.
Or on other words: Are the students of "subgroup 7A_1, have 2 hours of activity Informatics with Teacher1" and "subgroup 7A_1, have 3 hours of activity Foreign Lang. with Teacher3" the same? If yes, then this is only one group in a single division. No need to add a second division.
Maybe please also read the manual (I guess your problem is similar to Example 2 of the manual):

Hello
Thank's for replies! I've tried to use the division/categories, and seems it helped. Not sure what is the difference between manually declaring necessary subgroups, but my previous approach was wrong.

Hello,

I think you used my suggestion and added 2+2=4 groups and 2x2=4 subgroups. If so, you can see the students' structure and make an idea. See the subgroups dialog.

If you have two categories, each with two divisions: (A, B) and (1, 2), the groups are Y-A (containing subgroups Y-A-1 and Y-A-2), Y-B (Y-B-1 and Y-B-2), Y-1 (Y-A-1 and Y-B-1) and Y-2 (Y-A-2 and Y-B-2). It is like mathematics in real life.

Watch the subgroups after using the automatic split of the year.
