Title: A set of sub activities has a set of preferred time slots
Post by: sasbland on August 08, 2025, 10:41:01 PM
Hello,

I think this constraint might suit my scenario but I'm not sure how to use it.

So each of our subjects have 4 hrs per week, split in to 2 of 2 hrs sessions. We want one session to be between 9:00-13:00 and the other session between 13:00-17:00. They should be on different days but I think this is already taken care of by min days between activities.

Is this the right constraint to use, if so I still don't know how to use 'component number (split index)' and 'duration'.

Thank you very much.

Hello,
Split the activity into two activities, each lasting 2 hours.
In the minimum days field, enter 1.
In the weight field, enter 100%.

Hello,

Yes, like YOUSSEF said, and the constraint subactivities preferred time slots: add two of these for each needed subject. The first constraint: duration 2, split index 1, 9-13, and the second constraint: duration 2, split index 2, 13-17. Or switched, split index 2, 9-13, and split index 1, 13-17, as you prefer.

Thank you. Do I have to do it one subject by subject? I have loads of subjects that I'd like it to happen this way.

You're welcome!

If all subjects, leave the constraint subject blank. If say 40 subjects out of 50, do this:

Add a tag, AT, to all activities with these 40 subjects. You can add a tag to more activities with a single click in recent FET.

Then the constraint will only specify tag AT (and not the subject).
