Title: Filter Modify Multiple Constraints at once
Post by: Chafik Graiguer on September 19, 2010, 03:17:59 PM
Hi all
Yet another suggestion  :)
What about adding filter feature to the command: Modify Multiple Constraints at once
For example, I would like to change Min days value for all  activities, not glolabally,  but form one subjct only (e.g Physical education)
of all ctivities from one or to teachers ..etc or from a given tag...

I wrote this down.

It is more complicated than at first sight, because some constraints min days may refer to separate activities, each one having different subjects, teachers, students, activity tags.

Until then, maybe you can use the filter in the constraints list and edit constraints one by one, if they are not too many.

Thanks
Another Idea
This is a quote from FET help:
QuoteModification on 14 June 2008: If you have for instance an activity with 2 lessons per week and you want to spread them to at least 2 days distance, you can add a constraint min days with min days = 2 and weight 95% (or higher). If you want also to ensure that activities will be separated by at least one day, you can use this feature: add a constraint min days with minimum days 2 and weight 95% or lower, and after that you'll get the possibility to add another constraint with min 1 days and weight 95% or higher. It works if you first select in the dialog the min days >= 2 and click Add activities. Or you can add manually the constraints (difficult this way). Important: it is best practice to consider both constraints to have 95% weight. The combination assures that the resultant is 99.75% weight
Would not be just simpler to have a check box saying: Never in the same day similar to the other check box: force consecutive if... ?
If checked FET would programatically adds the necessary constraints described in the above help

There is not enough space in the dialog, and also I prefer the current settings.

You can apply spreading of activities after inputting activities, which does what you need.
