Title: FET-7.7.0 snapshot available - CMake instead of QMake
Post by: Liviu Lalescu on January 10, 2026, 07:18:31 PM
I have put a snapshot. You can read here: https://lalescu.ro/liviu/fet/forum/index.php?topic=6716.0

Darren, could you please check that the macOS compilation and run is correct? Also, check the translations.

The good thing is that we switched from QMake to CMake and joined the compilation of the engine and compilation is faster; another good thing is better installation and native support.

The bad thing is that we had to give up Qt 5.15, and Windows 7 and 8.1 support. Also, now you need Qt 6.10 if you want to compile FET.

I guess we'll keep the old FET-7.6.5-official as the last version for Windows 7 and 8.1.

Thanking Michael Towers for his extensive help and suggestions, and to Volker for his additional advice!

I made it possible also with QMake, so Windows 7 and 8.1 will still work.

Also, as suggested by Michael Towers, the sources are packed with tar.xz.
