When you create timetables for tuition purposes, something might happen and need for regeneration arise.
The sessions that had been taught need to be removed so that the teachers don't get adavantaged now that they are paid to teach.
I find myself removing the sessions per class for those days in those hours.
Is there a way upon generation, one can lock all days so that incase need of regenerating is needed,i will just unlock days that haven't been taught and regenerate having done the necessary changes.
Sample timetable attached
I am not sure I understand correctly, but you can lock/unlock for all teachers/students easily in the time horizontal timetables for a whole day/hour, if you select the whole column(s).
If one need to lock activities for a certain day and hour, which option do i use?
Not here. View the timetable teachers/students/rooms time horizontal, click on the header of that day+hour, and click the lock button.
What i mean is you generate timetables for 7 saturdays. You teach for sat 1-3.Before teaching 4-7,some changes are needed.Since the lessons are paid, one has to remove the sessions and retain the untaught ones as one make the changes. My question is,is there a way of removing the sessions that were taught without having to go to each class and deactivate the sessions?
The lock option i shared can't work for specific day and specific hours.
Please use FET terminology, if possible! I don't understand what a lesson is, I don't understand what a class it, I don't understand what a session is, you use "lock" for "deactivate".
To deactivate activities of a specific day and hour, you could go to the activities dialog and use an intelligent filter based on the detailed description with constraints of the activities (to include a constraint preferred starting time).
Sorry...i mean locking activities for for groups in certain days and hours
I think you could add activities preferred times constraints.
The sample timetable i sent doesn't mean the activities are placed in those preferred time. When generating,no activities has preferred times.
I am sorry, but I don't understand. I hope other forum users can help with advice/explanations.
Hope you will get me in the way i will bring out my concern.
We create timetable for remedial/tuition on weekdays or Saturdays.Upon teaching, one is paid.At times a need may arise to change the timetable and hence regenerate. All activities that were taught are supposed to be removed/deactivated now that teachers were paid.We want to retain what hasn't been taught.
I have been removing/deactivating the sessions.I want to know whether upon generation,if i go to the lock option, i can manage to go to certain days and lock the hours in the day i wish?
What we have in fet is locking all days and in a way it may not help if timetable generation is needed in the course of the week.
I want something like i can go to saturday 1 and lock certain hours and not all hours.Same case can happen that in a certain week,i can lock specific days and not the whole week.
In some of the timetables, under days i have weeks and under hours i have days.If i can manage to lock activities of for example week 2 Tue,Wed,that would be great since i can regenerate without having to remove/deactivate activities already taught.I will not have to go under students to lock on students not available times to take care of what was taught or do that under break.
Anyway,i'm just looking for a shotcut.
Locking activities of a specified day and hour is what i wonder if it can be achieved
Please go to teachers (or students) timetable view time horizontal in the FET interface. You can select a whole column (=FET day+hour) and lock it with a single click.
That worked perfect. Thanks alot. Maybe you can make the colour be highlighting colour be viscible both while you have selected the colours and when not to assist one while adding the constraint with ease.
A question, is it possible still in that interface to have like a strikethrough to assist put a line in the locked activities that one want to show they have been taught? Or what can we do to show those activities have been taught once you regenerate the timetables
1) You're welcome! But the highlight is visible with and without colors.
2) I'll add this in the TODO, but I don't quite like it.
Its okay.Just that its faint.
Whatever you find good to do,its okay.We appreciate
Thank you!
It is not faint on my usual environment (GNU/Linux Tumbleweed, Vertex-Dark on XFCE). But I will check now on Windows and possibly add your suggestion in the TODO.
Indeed, faint (on Windows 11)! I'll write down your suggestion.
Thanks
