OK, I don't know how to convert csv to UTF-8 (and yes, I use csv). I googled it just now, but it looks like my excell doesn't have an option to save as csv utf-8. If you have any suggestion how to do this I'd be glad to hear it.
Where should I send my csv to? To your email?

Is there a possibility to include the number of students at seperate activities? The reason I need this and add it manually is that while I know the number of students for each year/group/subgroup the number at an activity can vary (be higher or lower than what you would guess from the number of students in year/group/subgroup), because we can always have last years students attending if they didn't pass or have students passing an exam one year in advance. So for me it would be great if I could also import the number of students at an activity when importing activities.

Hi, as I am importing my data into FET I always get issues with importing slovene letters like č, š, ž... It imports them as a symbol and then I have to spend a lot of time correcting all the mistakes. Is there something I can do about this?

Suggestions / Editing tags/subjects/teachers (in data)
December 23, 2024, 12:58:36 PM
Hi guys, first of all thank you for all the hard work you're putting into this program. It's greatly appreciated.
I was just sorting out my timetable and was trying to find the fastest way to make my tags printable/not printable. I couldn't find a way to do it in bulks, for instance to use ctrl+mouse click to chose more tags and then set printable/not printable for them but I had to click at every one of them and then set printable/not printable for each of them. The same thing happens if you want to delete teachers for instance or delete subjects.
I noticed you can now activate more than one activity by using ctrl+mouse click or even shift+mouse click. Could you do that for tags/teachers/subjects also?
I hope I am making sense.

How do I do that?
I also don't understand what to do here: "Search in the registry (regedit.exe) fet/fettimetabling/SubactivitiesForm, and remove [geometry] (so you won't lose all the other FET settings). fet/fettimetabling/FetMainForm [geometry] is for the main form." Is that a thing on my computer? And if so, where can I find it (pic of my maps should be attached)

Well, I have no idea how it came to it, it was the first time I ever opened the subactivities menu, I always did my timetables without it and just tried to explore subactivities. So I literally just opened my .fet file and opened subactivities menu. What other info do you need?

Hi guys, first of all, thanks for all the good work.
I was trying out the subactivities menu in data tab (main window -> data - > subactivities). It opens up a new window, but it's a bit out of my schreen, so I can't move it or close it (except with alt+F4). A printscreen should be attached. I use 3 monitors, so I'm guessing that's a problem here...
Best wishes,
Mojca

Suggestions / Few suggestions
June 22, 2018, 08:43:47 PM
Hi, guys. I have to say it again: great work with this program. I have two minor things to report:
1. the width of left smaller window in "Constraints activity tag preferred rooms" (in "Space" constraints) cant be changed with mouse, like it can be in other similar windows. It can be a bit annoying, since it leaves left window quite narrow. Not good for my data.
2. Is there any possibility, to add a time constraint for teachers that want a pause between activities. This particular teacher has some activities that last 2 hours and one that lasts 4 hours. So I can't set break for her after 2 hours, and setting a break for her after 4 hours is not good enough. After the end of each activity, she answers any questions that may apear so that makes her late for new activity.
Best wishes,

Suggestions / Re: Hiding some of the activity tags

Maybe you could add a little "i" button on the right side of tag slot (in activities window) with a short explanation: "Tag NOT WANTED that you don't want to be shown in timetable should be named (*NOT WANTED*)."

Suggestions / Re: Setting output directory

Yes, well I'm a bit obsessed about keeping all of the versions of my timetable (it's the second week of second semester and I'm currently on my 11th version), it can actually change daily, so for me it's a good thing ;)

Thanks for the answers,
1. well I think I'll have to rethink about my tags (I have too many already :/)... I'll definitely look into it when I start timetable for next year. The way I do it now is I use 6 tags for students to mostly use one building, and then 4 and 2 for other two...
2. Good suggestion, I'll try that.
3. OK.
4. I do use what you suggested, but I have app. 300 activities in my timetable so it's a lot of work, to sort everything out...

Thanks for all the suggestions. The problem is that I need the free time slot for a group of teacher every few weeks. They all seem to be working several jobs and situation outside "my" timetable seems to vary over different weeks. So time slot for one meeting is not necessary OK for next meeting, hence I need just a suggestion of free slots of all the teachers in the group so they can choose appropriate one for the week. Also gaps (for teachers) are not a problem. I'm doing my timetable for a faculty and the hours teachers spend in a classroom are just few (some only 2 hours/week, especially for outside teachers).
I do this manually by opening teachers timetable and choosing occupied time slots for all of a teacher in the group, then changing to next teacher, pressing "Ctrl" and choosing next teacher's occupied slots. The end result are chosen slots, that are occupied by at least one teacher (hence not ok for a meeting). We then choose meeting slot from the rest of time slots. So I would basically like just a list of those "free" slots to choose from. I don't need it to show in timetable. Just a list would be fine, I can make a presentable table from it in no time.

Hi, could it be possible to create a list of free hours for a group of chosen teachers (for a meeting and such...).

My subjects have their own ID for the sake of our system (I'm talking about few activities with same subject and different teachers). Is it possible to import subject names and IDs? We sometime have two subjects with same name but different ID. Timetable for subjects puts those two in same timetable and adding an ID could solve that problem (subjects' timetable could be composed on the basis of subjects IDs and not name).

Suggestions / On constraints

Four suggestions on constraints:
1. Would it be possible to add: space -> Activities -> An activity has a preferred building. It would help me a lot.
2. Could you add: time -> Activities -> An activity either starts or ends students day (for when they don't actually do the activity for the entire semester)?
3. Is it possible to have variable weight on teachers not available time (for their ideal time, set at maybe 99%)?
4. Could you add: space -> Activities -> A set of activities has a set of preferred rooms? (there are several subjects with a certain tag that I want in just a few rooms).
