Suggestions / Re: max hours daily for an activity
October 13, 2009, 07:27:06 PM
I tried to generated the timetable (the one that I send you with the 417 activities) with the last snapshot (13-oct-2009)
The first time it makes more than 15 minutes to generate and I stop it.
The second time it finished successfully in 11 minutes
The third time it finished in successfully in 5 minutes.

With the older snapshot (22-sept-2009) it took 24 minutes (one try).
With the previous snapshot (2-oct-2009) it took 4.5 minutes (one try).

I do not know if this is normal or if the "max hours daily for an activity tag" is the reason of the generation time to vary so much.

The program is working fine I did not see any bug.

Only that if I disable the constrain from the settings it still load and generate the fet file that already has the constrain.

I think that the warning is enough. The option is not necessary and the constrain can be enable all the time. I think this is easier for the user. You can check before the generation if there is the constrain or not and run the correct code.

But if you leave it as it is it is OK with me.
I do not make any request
I think you do more than enough and I want to thank you for that.

May be you can put it as an option and warn the user of the proper use of the constrain.
But if you decide not to have that constrain it is OK for me
I am sure you did your best.

Thank you anyway

You can do it what you like. I have no copyright problem.

I changed my fet file and I add the "max hours daily for an activity tag with a student set". I tested. It is ok. I thought it would be faster because it has less constrains but it is not. The old file took 15-20 minutes the new took 24 minutes. I guess if a problem is difficult the solution is also difficult. I send you both files. (If you remove the max gap per week and per day constrains it is solved in less than a minute)
I send you both files. They solve the same problem (417 activities)

Sorry for the slow response time
I had a lot of work this week

Thank you

Suggestions / max hours daily for an activity
September 19, 2009, 09:14:49 PM
I think I need a constrain "max hours daily for an activity" or "max hours daily for an activity tag for a student set"
I have a teacher that has 4 diferent activties for the same student group

Activity-1 is 3 seperate hours in a week
Activity-2 is 3 seperate hours in a week
Activity-3 is 2 seperate hours in a week
Activity-4 is 2 seperate hours in a week
Total 10 hours in a week
I do not want this student group  to have more than 3 of these activities in the same day

What I do now is:
1) To set constrain "min n days between a set of activities" for the 3 hours of Activity-1
2) To set constrain "min n days between a set of activities" for the 3 hours of Activity-2
3) To set constrain "min n days between a set of activities" for the 2 hours of Activity-3
4) To set constrain "min n days between a set of activities" for the 2 hours of Activity-4

And finaly because I do not want all 4 activities in the same day I must:
5) To set constrain "min n days between a set of activities" for the 4 hours of Activity-3 and Activity-4

These are to many constrains more than I realy need because Activity-3 and Activity-4 Is Ok to be in the same day if they are alone or with one of Activity-1 or Activity-2 and now with the constrain I set they can not be.

It would be easer for the teacher and for the FET if I could set just one activity lets say
Activity-1234 with 10 hours in a week and with no constrain "min n days between a set of activities"
I need only to have a constrain "max hours daily for an activity"
so I can set: max hours daily for activity-1234 = 3
In this way have 2 big advantages
1) I put only one constrain and it is easier for FET
2) I let the teacher to organize his 10 hours and to deside what activity he will do at every hour. And this is better for the teacher.

I could do it also if I had a constrain "max hours daily for an activity tag for a student set" and set all 4 activities (with no "min n days between a set of activities" constrain) to have the same activity tag and then set:
max hours daily for this activity tag and this student set = 3
I think this solution (with activities tags) is better.

Suggestions / Re: min days per week for a teacher

Yes. I generate OK. I did not notice any delay. In fact when I test it (417 activities)  without the max gaps constrains (so to be fast) it is faster with the "min days per week constrain" (12 sec)  than without it (40 sec)
When I test it with the max gaps constrains (max 1 in week for all teachers)  it took 10 - 20 minutes and I did not notice any diferent with or without the "min days per week" constrain.

I will download the snapshot and check it out

Suggestions / min days per week for a teacher
September 19, 2009, 10:20:47 PM
I want every teacher to be in school every day (min 1 hour every day)
because this is the law here in Greece.
If I put min hours daily for a teacher =2 will not work and I still get timetables with empty days for a teacher. Also some teachers have less than 10 hours at week and I can not put  "min hours daily for a teacher =1"

So I need a constrain like "min days per week for a teacher = 5"

Thank you in advance

Report a Bug / Re: bug in rename teacher in ver  5.11.0
September 24, 2009, 10:45:14 AM
I tested the last snapsot "fet-5.11.0-snapshot-22-sept-2009-21_06"
It works OK with renaiming teachers that have "min days per week" constrain

I was also the one that suggested the "max hours daily for an activity tag"
http://lalescu.ro/liviu/fet/forum/index.php?topic=607.msg3663#msg3663
It could be like "max hours continiously with an activity tag for a teacher" or "max hours continiously with an activity tag for a student set" but insted of "continiously" will have "daily"
If it is general "max hours daily for an activity tag" will also work (if I need a spesific teacher or a student set I will just create a diferent activity tag for this teacher or student set)

Thank you

Report a Bug / bug in rename teacher in ver  5.11.0
September 21, 2009, 06:02:27 PM
If a techer has "min days per week" constrain and you rename the teacher the constrain keeps the old name.
Then if you try to generate a time table it throws an error.
I checked the fet file before and after rename I saw that the name has changed in all the other file but not inside the "min days per week for a teacher" constrain
