Get Help / Re: Rooms not added to generated solution
January 31, 2010, 07:39:47 PM
Hello Livlu,

I added all rooms as preferred rooms and I got the expected behaviour. I am really curious why you designed it that way. Since this puts additional burden to the user, he has to specify that all rooms are possible if there are no other constrains. However if the user doesn't do this, then it seems that the rooms are simply not taken into account.

In my setup the definition went from 170 kb to 1.3 mb just to for this constrains. Overall this seems like a lot of effort for something that I feel should always be there - the room in the rooms_days_horizontal.html for example.

Get Help / Rooms not added to generated solution
January 31, 2010, 04:02:35 PM
Hello,

I am trying with different definition files from the samples on fet 5.12.2 (also on 5.11.0) and the rooms are not added to the solution. When I open the activities.xml the Room element is empty in all Activity elements.

This is reproducable with Lom_high_school_2007-2008-single definition from the samples.

Does someone know why the rooms are empty?

I see your point.

So to sum up:
1. Activities for Students for Building A have 100% space constrain for all rooms in Building A. This could be accomplished with one activity tag.
2. Constrain maximum building changes per week to 0.

I think that just by asking FET to place activities according to 1 it would effectivly constrain the classes never to have activity out of building A.

I think that there's a possibility for a class to end up in a different building. I originally thought of this, but I am not sure.

If I add 100% for a space constrain on all activities for classes in building A and then changes of building per day 0. Will this be enough to constrain the classes to have activities only in building A?

My idea is to limit the the subjects only in one building.

In my setup I can have more than one building only teachers should travel. So I decided to put a room constrain on the subjects. All classes in building A cannot be placed in building B with such kind of constrain.

I could easily go ahead and add this constrain to FET but I don't know if you have something similar.

Hello,

Is there a way to constrain an activity / activity tag so it cannot be placed in a room?

Hello,

Is there a DTD for the XML datafile FET uses? After I got accainted with the features of FET it is more or less self-explanatory, but I would like to have something to validate my files against.
