Get Help / Re: Years, groups, etc

If I establish the none category (economía, física, none) then the timetable throws economía/física for 4DiverA and 4DiverB and they don't have to study that.

I got it, Liviu. Yet we have another problem

We also have two more groups in 4 (4A diver and 4B diver) that don't choose betweeen Física and Economía because they don't study that. Yet if I establish all these categories Física and Economía appear in 4A Diver and 4B Diver.

Thank you very much, Liviu.  I see your point but there are more options to choose that make it more difficult:

Between Latin/Biología they choose one
Between Física / Economía they choose one
Between Música / Arte / Digitalización, they choose one
Between Dibujo Técnico / Danza / Cultura clásica, they choose one

That's the problem

Get Help / Years, groups, etc

Hello there. I've using FET for a long time but I still don't get how to use the year, groups, etc, divisions. The problem is that I have to link several groups that share a subject at the same time. Better if I give an example:

Group 4A/4B go toghether because some students take Biology and others take Latín. The thing is I don't know how to divide things properly.

So far, I managed to solve the problem by creating a subject 'Biología/Latín' which is quite simple, but I'd like to do It the other way, with separate subjects.

Thanks.

Thank you for your reply. The thing is that when I don't assign the name of the teacher, it works. That's it, an activity without a teacher.

Quote from: Volker Dirr on August 31, 2023, 01:09:21 PMYou data is impossible.

It is more difficult to see, since you didn't tried to split years into groups.
The problem is at least in year 4° ESO. It is clever to call the year only "4° ESO" and add 4 groups into that year. Then add a whole year to most of your activities. By the the timetable will be smaller on paper and it will be easier to see the bug.

Just add a 7th hour and set a break contraint for the 7th hour on Tuesday to Friday. Then generate the timetable. Now you will see, that the timetable can be generated and there is one activity placed on Monday 7th hour. If you try to place this activity into a free slot, then you will see that it is always already used by an other year. So it is impossible to do that.

As i said: it is easier to see and understand that bug, if you split the years more clever. It happen because you share so many activities with different years.

easy example:
activity 1: yearA, yearB
activity 2: yearA, yearC
activity 3: yearB, yearC

Now you have a timetable with 2 slots only.
As you can see yearA has only 2 activities, yearB has only 2 activities and yearC has only 2 activities.
So it should be possible to add the activities in 2 slots, don't they?
Try it, and you will see that it is impossible. You need at least 3 slots.

You done the same bug in your data set.

Wouldn't it be enough if I untick the 'consecutive' option?

Juanma
Quote from: Volker Dirr on July 24, 2023, 06:41:40 PMOf course there is no free slot available for activity 3.
That dataset is impossible, because:
the teacher is not available in the 4th hour each day.
So in the morning are only 3 hours available and in the afternoon are also 3 hours available;
But your activity 3 has got duration 4.
So there is no place for that activity.

Try to divide 16 sessions in 4 days, 4 hours per day. The fet says : there is no slot. The thing is there aren't any other activities provided in that particular group. However, if I do it in groups of 8, it works. Is there any limitation in the total number of hours we can divide?

Thank you very much. You are a genius!

I assume you have changed something in the 0 conflict file. Is that correct?
