Get Help / Re: teacher max number of hours total
September 16, 2010, 09:19:26 PM
Ok, but now I am not sure I understand. FET does one week timetables. Does this mean that all weeks will be the "copy" of the first one?
Courses generally last longer than one week and the only possibililty for fitting everything in for more than one week with an identical repeating pattern is that the number of activities is a multiple of the number of weeks the course lasts for. As you may know this is almost impossible at university.
My question was about the need to calculate the number of hours per week per teacher in advance and then feed that into FET. As an alternative, may be not implemented, I was thinking of entering the maximum number of hours in total per teacher and let FET fit in the chosen time window (8 or 10 or any number of weeks) splitting that number into customizable blocks (2 hours lectures normally).
I hope I managed to explain the problem better.

Many thanks

Ciao

Get Help / teacher max number of hours total

Hi all,
first of all I want to thank the staff for the tremendous work done with FET and with maintaining this very useful forum, to which I just subscribed.
I am planning to use the sw but there is an issue I can't work out how to deal with.
I teach in University and we are in a situation by which different teachers have different amounts of hours to teach their subject in a given term. The activities can be distributed with almost any pattern within the time limits of the term (generally approx 10 weeks) provided the maximum doesn't exceed the amount due. For example: cell biol = 18 hours, biochem = 18 hours, anatomy =45 and so on. Is there a way to fix that number for individual teachers or do I have to find out the rough hours/day for each of them and give that as an input?
Many thanks for your help
