I've looked in the results folder and can't see an appropriate report. Is it a case of going through the teachers' timetables individually?

Thanks
#2
Thank you, I will try that.

I have successfully generated the timetable and most of the rooms are automatically allocated. Is there a way of changing a specific room allocation afterwards? There isn't really a 'rule' to set a constraint to do it automatically.

Thanks. Sorry for delay in replying. It turned out I wasn't allowing enough time for it to find a solution. 9-16hrs needed!

Hi

All six activities have the same tag. Is it okay if I email my input file, please? I can't see why it won't solve. :(
#6
Thanks. So, I am only using tags, say:

U6-A
U6-B
U6-C
U6-D
U6-X

Then one constraint that says they must not overlap.
#7
Thank you for the reply. I split them like this, worst case:

1/6 Teacher A
2/6 Teacher A
3/6 Teacher B
4/6 Teacher B
5/6 Teacher C
6/6 Teacher C

Most blocks are split 3:3.

I use activity tags to group them and then constraints to say tags mustn't overlap.

So, if A works Th, Fr, Sa and B works M, Tu, W would I be better ordering the sub-activities to put C first and A last?

I have a lot of 6-lesson activities. I use sub-activities to change the teachers for some of them. Does the order matter? Some of the teachers are part-time and it isn't finding a solution.

Get Help / Exporting completed timetable to ISAMS

Our timetable is published in ISAMS (isams.com). Has anyone experience of exporting from FET to ISAMS? Thanks.

Setting the different year groups to be unavailable seems to do everything. If the pupils aren't available on a particular afternoon, then it doesn't matter if the teachers are, they won't get scheduled.

Adding multiple constraints did exactly what is needed. Thank you.

Thanks, I will email in a moment. The minimal file does contain time constraints to schedule each of the 'six' lessons at the same time and it works. In the whole timetable, there are four years where this blocking occurs with six subjects in each of the four blocks and 3-6 lessons in each block, so that is a lot of individual constraints!

Thank you. How would you like the fet file?

I used FET very successfully (with a complex requirement) for about four years until I changed schools nine years ago. I have taken over at my current school to produce the timetable for next September. I thought I would begin by trying to implement the current requirement.

It is pupil-driven - i.e. Years 10-13 all have the same pattern of lessons, but Year 9 is different from this and Years 7 and 8 are different again.

I can't get it working yet. As a trial I have set up:

Year 13 with four groups A,B,C,D. For Group D, I have created three sub-groups U6D/Cs, U6D/Ar and U6D/Bi.

I have created activities:

U6D/Ar 6 split lessons with JLH teaching Ar
U6D/Bi 6 split lessons with OEP teaching Bi
U6D/Cs 4 split lessons with TKF teaching Cs
U6D/Cs 2 split lessons with NPR teaching Cs

TKF's and NPR's lessons should be at the same times as the first two, but obviously not at the same time as each other's. That is, all the four groups of lessons should occupy the same six periods in the timetable.

I have tried with and without time constraints. I have a minimal .fet file with this set up if that helps.

Thanks
