Hi everybody!
I'm happy do be back after a so long time... I'm working to update my translation,,, And I hope you all are well!

But now I'm back to see if my daughter Federica that's working in a Hospital can take advantage of FET

She is involved to prepare tyhe scheduling of 7 doctors that work in two divisions (classes?): 3 slots/ hours 8, 14 and 20 in first one. 2 slots/ 8, 14 in second one.
When a doctor works at 20 o'clock, he needs to be free the same day (no work at 8 and 14) and the day after (no work 8, 14 and 20).
Do you think that may I manage some constraints to respect this condition?

I can't figure how FET may constraint an activity looking at the scheduling of the previous day...

Hi everybody!
We have a school with 8 periods per day, with a short break every 2 hours.
There are 3 buildings.
Teacher may change building during those short breaks.
So we  haven't to say to FET any duration to change buildings. This may be done at beginning of hours nn. 3, 5 and 7.
If a teacher works in a building at first and second periods, he may change building and work at third period.

We may chose to insert breaks times (students and teachers not available) between periods 2 and 3, 4 and 5, 6 and 7 to allow building change in a period. But now we can handle 3 hours lessons only with the constraint "two activities are grouped", using the same teacher and same class with (sub)activities of 1 and 2 hours. We have also problems with subactivities with duration 2 that FET may not put with a break inside (so we have to use the same trick as above).

Do you think that we may define a grid of hours to allow building changes only at specific periods?

Fabio, un utente di FET, mi ha rappresentato una esigenza: "per motivi... diplomatici la preside vuole che nessuno dei professori con cattedra piena abbia contemporaneamente libere le prime 3 ore del lunedì e le ultime 2 del venerdì (il sabato la scuola è chiusa). Ora, con FET posso imporre che una determinata attività capiti in una di quelle 5 ore, ma non ho trovato un modo per imporre che almeno una delle attività di un determinato gruppo capiti in quelle 5 ore. Al limite posso imporre che tutte le attività di un gruppo capitino in quelle 5 ore, ma a me non servono tutte, me ne basta una. Che dirti... ho imbrogliato e per ogni professore ho scelta io un'attività da piazzare in quelle ore... ma così facendo ho ridotto moltissimo lo spazio delle soluzioni ammissibili. Questo mio problema mi fa capire, però, come le richieste dei presidi possano essere tali e tante da rendere difficile per Liviu scrivere tutti i vincoli immaginabili."

Tramite una richiesta al gruppo su Yahoo, ho ottenuto un suggerimento da Liviu Lalescu.

E' un espediente che fornisce una soluzione accettabile, anche se non è proprio quella ideale...

Definisci l'ora 0 e l'ora n+1 così da aggiungere un'ora 0 e, dopo l'ultima ora, un'ora n+1.
Imponi che nessuna classe sia disponibile in tali ore, 0 e n+1.
Per ogni insegnante definisci una attività fittizia, materia SD, nessuna classe, durata 1.
Aggiungi il vincolo di orario preferenziale per attività, materia SD, lunedì 0 o venerdì n+1.
Aggiungi il vincolo Numero massimo di Ore Buche al giorno per gli insegnanti 2 o 1 - vedi (*) sotto.
Aggiungi il vincolo Numero minimo di ore al giorno per insegnanti 2.
(*) Se scegli Ore Buche 2 gli insegnanti dovranno avere un'ora Lunedì 1, 2 o 3 oppure venerdì n-2, n-1 o n. Se scegli Ore Buche 1 gli insegnanti dovranno avere un'ora Lunedì 1 o 2 oppure venerdì n-1 o n.
Volendo essere più precisi, si dovrebbe dividere gli insegnanti in due gruppi e scegliere per uno le prime 3 ore di lunedì e per l'altro le ultime 2 ore di venerdì. Piuttosto complicato.

Ditemi se la descrizione del procedimento non è sufficientemente chiara.

Aspetto suggerimenti soprattutto per migliorare la traduzione in italiano.

Sarei felice di leggere qualche commento anche sul funzionamento di FET che, ad essere sincero, non ha ancora una gran bella interfaccia, ma secondo me è molto efficace nel trovare orari ben fatti.

Multiple (duplicate) rows for subactivities with more teachers or more students.
The output file can be a normal text file (csv ...)

Can you allow FET directly handle such a facility?

Can anyone suggest an easy script to extract these infos from the output .fet file, using an xml editor?

We have the flag 'If activities on same day, force consecutive' in the dialog Add activity. When 2 subactivities must be placed in the same day, they will be consecutive.

I need a similar constraint for subactivities involving a teacher and a students set.

This because I have activities with the same teacher and the same students set, but different subjects.

Till now, to solve this problem, I have created a new subject, adding the names (and the hours) of the two (or more) subject needed.

Have I to go on with this (not elegant) solution or is it possible to have a new constraint for activities filtered by teacher and student set?

My teachers work 5 days over 6 in a week. This is easy for FET to obtain (Max days per week for teachers...).

Is there an easy way to constraint teacher B to obtain a different free day from teacher A (and, at the same time, to leave FET freedom of choosing the two free days)?

(I hope that my question is easy to understand...)  :-?

I have a 5 hours activity splitted 2+1+1+1.

How can I constraint those subactivities to obtain that never the 2 hours component can be placed near a 1 hour subactivity?

Consider that I want, if it isn't possible to place all subactivities in different days, that FET puts two 1 hour subactivities joined in a same day.

Do you know a simple constraint to obtain this result?

Is it possible to include any row of comment into the txt or csv file used to import data into FET?

I have a school where teachers must work 5 of 6 days weekly, and at least 2 hours daily.

If I use constraints 1) Max days per week for a teacher and 2) Min hours daily for all teachers, I dont get  what I want.

It happens that FET, for some teachers put activities in less than 5 days. I have to avoid this. All teachers MUST work at least 2 hours daily all 5 days...

Can I get this?

Between hours 3 and 4 we have fifteen minutes to relax (eating something...) for students and teachers.

Which is the best way to tell FET that during this time we can have a building change without needing a gap?

Is it a good practice to have a new activity every day in a new slot (4°) where non teacher and no student set is available?

An italian user is trying to work with FET under Linux. He wants to change the interface language but he is able to work only in english. FET refuses to use any other language.


Does anybody have a suggestion? How can I help him?
