Hi all
I read throught this topic:
http://lalescu.ro/liviu/fet/forum/index.php?topic=662.0

I also read the FET help, both online and Volker's manual
But cant understand How categories and divisions work in FET
I never used Divide year automatically by selecting categories

So can anyone explain it to me in plain english?  :)

Here my school data:
we have years, each year divided into branches, each branche divided into classes
We have 3 years or levels : 1, 2 and 3
First , student enters Year 1
Next year: Year 2 ..etc

Each year is divided into branches, usualy two branches L (Litracy, Humanities) and S (Scientific)
So year 1 has: 1L and 1S
Year 2 has 2L and 2S ..etc
Because we cant put all students from one branche/year into one single room!, each branche is divided into classes depending on total number of students
For example, we have : 1L1, 1L2 and 1L3
For 1S, we have ,say: 1S1, 1S2, 1S3 and 1S4
..etc
So every class is identified by it's year, branche and a number
Finally, each class has two subgroups
for example 1S1 has: 1S1-1 and 1S1-2

So in my case, what is called categories or divisions?
and can I use Divide year automatically by selecting categories feature ?
Thanks

I am not sure you need "divide years" option. This is mainly useful if you have overlapping groups. And I think you don't have this.

Please read the FAQ about division (see the Documentation section of FET homepage, FAQ, search for string "divi" in all places and see when this facility is useful).
