As we know an activity of say 3 fet hours cannot be scheduled on both sides of a break, for example two fet hours, break, 1 fet hour.

In my situation the above is very common. What I did is to ignore the break (does not enter it in FET) and then generate. My question is now:

Is there a way to add the break afterwards? What I mean is the following: Supose Fet hour 7 is suppose to be the break, so my generated timetable will for example be:

Fet hour 1
Fet hour 2
Fet hour 3
Fet hour 4
Fet hour 5
Fet hour 6
Fet hour 7
Fet hour 8

Now I want to add the break at hour seven, so Fet hour 8 becomes 9, Fet hour 7 becomes 8 and Fet hour 7 is the break.

I can manipulate the csv file manually. Is there an easier way?

I search the forum with no luck.

Regards.

Possibilities:

1) Name hours: Hour 1, Hour 2, Hour 3, Hour 4, Hour 5, Hour 6, Hour 8, Hour 9.

2) Instead of adding an activity of length 3, add 3 activities with duration 1, and constraint 3 activities grouped. Similar for length 2.

But 2) is not worth the effort, I think.

Thanks for the reply.

I did already what you said, namely option 2, but instead of grouped I used consecutive activities. If I use option two, consecutive option, then it happens that before the break and after the break it is possible that different rooms are allocated and that is not what I want. Then I must indicate to FET to use the same room for the different activities and the the entering of venues are trippled. (The number of activities can be up to 1300, in total 2500 to 3000 FET hours.)

I did not experiment with grouping. If activiteies are grouped will FET allocate the same venue to the grouped activities? As said must experiment with this.

My problem is allocating rooms.

Kind regards.

Grouped and consecutive constraints work the same way. This leads us to the much requested constraint activities same room. But this is too difficult for me for the moment. I am sorry.

Thank you again for the quick reply and I understand.

What I will do is to schedule without a break, export to csv and then write a little program to insert the break as explained in my first posting.

Kind regards.
