Hi, I would like to use FET for staff scheduling for our stores. I need the correct mapping suggestions please.

Stores: store A and store B
staff: Dan, Ren, Lin, Yen, Les, May
store hrs: 11:45am-10:15pm, Mon-Sun
3 shift per day- 11:45am–4:00pm, 4:00pm–10:15pm, 3:00pm–9:00pm, 5:00pm–10:15pm
for the constraints, not sure how to set this up or change the existing ones
-Dan, Lin and Yen can only work for 4 hrs a day, any day for example and from 10am to 5pm only
Ren and Les, can work from 3pm to 11pm, 4 hrs also, Mon-Sun
May - anytime, off is Fri

Please advise how to set this up. Thank you so much.

Hello, and welcome to the forum!

You wrote 4 shifts, and 3 are overlapping? I don't understand.

Maybe staff is teachers or students. Constraints max 4 hours daily, not available in the other places than 10am to 5pm, 3pm-11pm, not available Friday.

It might help if you showed us some documents of previously made timetables.

I think overlapping shift is "normal" in business, since if it is a store with customers, then the employees must come earlier and prepare stuff and/or stay a bit longer finish some stuff (count the money, ...) and there is still a guy needed that talk with the customers. Also if you know that at a special time there will be many customers, then you need maybe 2 employees at the same time, so overlapping is useful.

I think you should use FET hours with 15min. So shift 11:45am–4:00pm has 17 FET hours (17*15min). So you add an activity with duration 17 for this shift.
You probably need to add a tag for every activity and add a constraint for prefered starting times for this tag. So that all activities/shifts will start at the correct time.

Hello,

I am not sure I understand correctly your situation. In FET, an activity has a subject, teacher, and students set, and a certain duration. You have constraints for min/max hours daily and many other things.

Maybe yes, like Volker said, a FET hour will represent real 15 minutes.

I used 'teacher' as the staff and 'subject' as the store name. I did not use the students. This is the output that I got.

So, is it good, or do you need more advice/changes?
