Hello,

I have a pair of part-time teacher. They are a couple and only one of them can be at school while the other is not working.
I know that this constraint is blocking my timetable since if i remove it then the tietable generates in seconds.
(rooming is also a block, but this I'm not concerned about)
I cannot seem to optimise their working hours for a successful timetable, since they should each work one full day and 3 half days per week to honor the day constraints for their classes.
Any ideas other than slowly adjusting the 'teach's available times constraint' until i find a combination that works?

Hello, and welcome to the forum!

Is it like this recent post: https://lalescu.ro/liviu/fet/forum/index.php?topic=6853.0 ? The new constraint introduced in FET-7.9.0 does exactly this; you might need to add more constraints of this type, for each full/half day. I am talking about the new constraint type activities max activity tags from set in selected time slots.

Or just the old constraint activities not overlapping?

Please let me know!

Daniel Alexander

Many thanks for your advice!

The new contraint works very well. How timely my question given how recently you implemented it!

However, when it is broken and more tags than allowed are timetabled simultaneously - which seems to happen once or twice (much less than without these new contraints) it doens't appear as a soft conflict/broken contraint.

You are welcome!

Yes, good timing!  :)

Hmm... I hope it is not a FET bug. The constraint only admits 100% weight and should not be broken. Please send me your file as soon as possible - either you (I hope  :) ) or me made a mistake, and I want to investigate!

You can attach your file here, if it is public (you can archive if it is too large), or by email to fet4 AT lalescu DOT ro.

Please also send if possible a locked file and point me the program's error!

After I received Daniel's file privately by email, it turned out it was his error: each constraint had two tags selected, and all but one constraints allowed maximum 1 tag, but one constraint allowed maximum 2 tags (should have been also 1).
