Can this be done in FET?

Hi Everyone,

I have tried making a timetable for my school in FET and all went well. I just wanted to ask if there is a possibility to do these in FET.

Our school has 9 periods per day excluding break/recess and works 5 days a week (Sunday to Thursday) which makes it a total of 45 periods/classes in a week. 9 teaching subjects in total for every class/year excluding (Physical Education and Library). All the subjects have a limit of maximum 5 periods/classes per week for every class/section except Arabic, UAE S.St, P.E and Library which have a max of 4, 3, 2, 1 respectively.

We have classes from KG1 to 8th Grade/Year and all Grades/Years are divided into sections.
Example KG1 A, KG1 B, KG2 A, KG2 B, 1A, 1B, 1C, 2A, 2B, 2C, 3A, 3B, 3C, 4A, 4B, 4C, 5A, 5B, 5C, 6A, 6B, 6C, 7A, 7B, 7C, 8A and 8B.

1. Can every teacher that is a class teacher (or has a homeroom) have the 1st period/class in her own classroom (that she is the class teacher of) everyday?
Example: I teach English and I am the class teacher of Grade 7A. Everyday, my first period is English in 7A. Can it be done on the FET system also?

2. If the above can be done, can it be possible to give some teachers (who are not class teachers), first 3 periods/classes FREE (or Gap) everyday.

3. There are a total of 45 periods in a week for the school (9 everyday) but a different number of maximum periods a teacher can teach in a week. Can it be done on the FET system?
Example: I teach English but the maximum number of periods allowed for me is 25 in a week (5 everyday). So rest of the periods are automatically FREE (Gap) periods for me.

4. The final timetable for students is generated in an opposite way from what we are used to. Can the rows and columns be exchanged?
Example: Days should be on the left hand side and Period/Classes on the Top from 1st to 9th Period.

Thanks a lot for your time and patience.

Depending on your dataset. Maybe it is possible, maybe it is't. Much more information is needed to answer this.

That is one of the big disadvantages / problems of your first request. You MUST do it at least with the 1st period if you want your request, but it might be impossible.

For example you might get room problems (especially gym, lab, ...), because these rooms are now not used in the first period, but you might haven't enough free slots now for that subject at other times.

I highly recommend to try this 1. (and 2.) request step by step. Start maybe only with the lower years and check the disadvantages that you will get by that requests.

Of course that is possible. That is a basic constraint. You can't turn that request off.

Please simply open a sample file. Generate that file and view the print form and the also check the html-files. You can find such tables there.
