It has been partially suggested by Volker: in the language choosing dialog write each language in its characters, untranslated, like: "ro (Română)".

What do you say?

At the moment the list of languages in that dialog is displayed in the currently selected language. This is the main issue from my point of view. So if I select danish (da) instead of german (de) by mistake, I have to know that "tysk" means "german" the next time I have to open the dialog.

Selecting english translations of all languages in that dialog would already help most people. However, what about people not speaking english?

Here Volker's suggestion would help: everybody would find his own language quite easily without further language barriers.

As a matter of fact I wouldn't be able to read some entries in that dialog (e.g. "simplified chinese" if its written in chinese characters), but why should I select that entry if I'm not able to read the language?

So +1 for Volker's suggestion.
