Hello everyone. Just started using fet and would like to know how to handle the following senario.
I make a timetable to be in use for a long period say several months.
Then in between this time, lots of things may happen e.g a teacher gets sick for a day/week, students go for a trip e.t.c.
I want to restructure the time table to accomodate this (another teacher takes over the absentees lessons and when the other comes back, he takes his own lessons and also recovers those he din't teach. then the timetable goes back to normal.
is there a way to do this and what is the best way?

Kind Regards.

I am not sure, maybe Volker or other users can help with better advice. I can tell you that there is no special substitutions facility in FET. Maybe you can lock/unlock some activities using the advanced lock/unlock, or modify the data file, to get the activities of a teacher to belong to others. Maybe you can make a small test to see how these apply.

Again, I hope other users will come with better advice.

as liviu said: there is sadly no substutution planning tool. Update: read next message.

so you can do this variants:
- modify activities and regenerate (suggested if you need to change for several weeks)

- use teachers free periods to recover activities
compare (suggested if changes must be done just for a day / a few days)
http://www.timetabling.de/manual/FET-manual.en.html#id_40

- use a substitution software. i wrote 2 converters from fet to other timetabling software, so you can do substutition with that software. there are 2 converters at the moment:

a) for "willi2"
http://willi.wgg-neumarkt.de/download.htm
willi2 is closed sourse and for windows only (but can run with wine). it is free for german school in bavaria. other schools must buy that software. it is very nice and work well. sadly it is german only. maybe cantact that author to ask about moe information. we use that software in school.

b) for WinPlan:
http://www.svws.nrw.de/html/winplan.html
WinPlan is also closed source for windows only. it is free for school from germany NRW.
it is not as good as Willi2, that is why the converter is also not 100% finnished/ready, but we can optimise it more if you want to use WinPlan.
Sadly also WinPlan is german only.

i know that is the bad thing of fet (missing substitution software), but it will take month to code that and i am limited in time and i must do my job at school first. maybe someone pay/donate a coder to support this project someday. current donations to fet are just enough to pay the webserver. we can't pay someone for that coding work.
