Question:
Hello, I am using FET Version 7.1.0 (March 2025) and facing difficulty in scheduling optional language subjects for certain classes in my school.

School Structure:
We have classes from I to XII with multiple divisions.
From I to V, divisions are: Banyan, Oak, Teak, Neem.
From VI to X, divisions are: Vivekanand, Basava, Tagore, Gandhi.
XI and XII have a single division: Vivekanand.

Issue:
In IX Basava and X Basava, students choose either Hindi or Marathi as their optional language.
Both subjects should be conducted at the same time but by different teachers.
Some students attend Hindi, while others attend Marathi in the same slot.
I want to ensure that students do not get assigned both subjects and that each teacher gets the correct set of students.

What I Have Done So Far:
I created Years, Groups, and Subgroups in the Students section.
IX Basava and X Basava are defined as groups, and I created subgroups for Hindi and Marathi students.
I tried adding activities for both Hindi and Marathi, but I am facing conflicts and constraints errors while generating the timetable.

My Questions:
How should I correctly set up Years, Groups, and Subgroups for IX Basava and X Basava to handle the optional subjects?

When entering activities, should I assign them to groups or subgroups?

What constraints should I use to ensure both Hindi and Marathi occur at the same time without conflicts?

Any step-by-step guidance or example for handling optional subjects like this in FET?

I would appreciate any help or guidance on this. Thanks in advance!

Hello, and welcome to the forum!

Please try to see how this feature works: Years dialog, Divide year automatically by categories. Then you will add activities for groups.
