1230 out of 1278 activities placed
Elapsed time: 14 h 21 m 38 s

Max placed activities: 1246 (at 12 h 22 m 4 s)

Can someone help me to understand this?

I believe FET do some ordering of activities before generation start.

Does the above mean that FET is now trying Activity 1247 and has yet to find a suitable slot for 1247?
Does this also mean that Activity 1248 onwards, all these activity has not been tried?

FET do some ordering of the activities, that is correct. You can see the order while generating if you click on the pushbuttons.

It mean at time 12h 22m 4s FET was able to place 1246. Sadly FET wasn't able to place the next activity, so FET must move back and try an other way. It is now currently placing 1230 activities correct. It is normal that FET must go back sometimes to find a solution.

12 h is already pretty much. you should try to solve on more cores at once (generate multiple timetables) or try a time limit, but be careful. Generating multiple at once is an easy variant to find faster solutions. A time limit can be very critical. If you set a too low value you might never find a solution even if there are many solutions. Watch my Youtube videos if you want to know more about that topic: Mainly video number 17 and 19
