Get Help / Re: Option blocks design

Hello Sue,

Perhaps I don't understand your problem entirely but I'd like to have a go.

How many days do you have in your cycle and how many periods are there daily?

Do all the subjects have the equivalent amount of periods in the cycle?

General Stuff / Re: "Ideal" time to solve

It depends I think. I've had tt's generate overnight. Go home come back in the morning and it's there for you.

What has bothered me is I'm not sure if the generation continues if the pc goes to sleep or into hibernation mode. So I always set my power saving off and just let FET do the rest.

Hello Volker, yes you're right about both:

The German Private School was, before we became independent from South Africa, just a high school. After independence the demand for the private school grew so they started a primary and then a pre primary. But as you mentioned the name remained DHPS. It was financed and is still partly financed from Germany I understand. In fact there is a plaque in front of the school, which indicates the exact kilometers from the school to Berlin.

The Waldorf school has a strange/different way of doing things tha all the other locals school.

All schools except I think 1 school in Namibia start on the same date. That includes Pre Primary, Primary and Secondary - State and Private schools. The only exception to this may be Waldorf School. It is a private school, but I am not sure how they work.

All of the state schools as well as a few private schools in Namibia follow the Cambridge curriculum, while most of the private Afrikaans schools, some of the English private schools and I believe 1 of the German private schools use the IEB (Independent Examination Board) curriculum. I am not sure what curriculum the Deutsche Hoer Privaatshule (DHPS) use.

I think the universities, colleges and technicons have a 2 semester system.

We have a 3 trimester system in Namibia. Every year the commencement dates of each trimester will differ slightly.

2018

1st Trimester start 10 January
2nd Trimester start 21 May
3rd Trimester start 03 September

Get Help / Re: theoretical and practical classes
February 19, 2018, 10:15:33 AM
Hello Huda,

I'm not sure if I'm qualified to assist you with your problem, but if I will give it a go.

I would discard Group E and Group F. Only have Group A, Group B, Group C and Group D.

For the Theoretical classes, combine Group A and Group B in one activity and combine Group C and Group D in another activity.

For the Lab classes assign each group in a  separate activity.

  - Added a teachers' statistics, to show the number (and optionally the names) of the teachers available at each time slot of the week. Suggested by Matsumoto.

Thank you for this fantastic new feature. Will it be possible to get a printout of this?

I may be wrong but I believe you can't have 2 subjects in the same slot/period.

You might be able to create a subject like English/Assisted English. If that's ok then it should work.

Normally practical classes are set over double periods. If that is the case then it is easy to sequence the activities that occur in the double periods to be consecutive e.g First for grade 7a then 7b and so on.

I would try your first option. Create one TT for the entire school.

Then use the constraint 'Students not available time' to prevent FET from scheduling classes for the primary schoolin the first and last periods of the day.

The start/end time of periods would however be a bigger problem.

I am not sure how you will overcome this.

Hello Liviu,

Have you ever considered developing software similar to this?
