Bulgarian translation of FET is in progress, but it is not finished yet and it is not included in the official FET releases.

If Bulgarian speaking users want to test this incomplete translation they can download a not official FET variant for Windows and Mac from this page: http://vanyog.github.io/FET

Maybe this is not important at all, but working on Bulgarian translation of FET frequently happens fet_bg.qm file to be not placed at the right directory.

This is because I want to work on the translation in the last development snapshot of FET. That is why, each time before I start to translate, I download the current FET snapshot, I merge it with my copy of the code, where I have the implementation of changes suggested and compile FET. Sometimes it happens I forget to place fet_bg.qm file to the right directory and when FET starts the current language changes to English. In this case I have to close FET, provide fet_bg.qm file to the right directory, start FET again and change the language to Bulgarian.

So I come to the idea to implement a small change in the way FET loads the current language. In case FET does not find the *.qm file a question message box appears by which the user can stop FET to start. After that the user can provide the *.qm file for the current language and start FET. That way the current language remains the same and there is no need to choose it again. The implementation of this functionality is here:

I understand this solution is about a situation which the regular users of FET maybe will never meet, but because I implemented it for my convenience I decided to suggest it in this forum.

There are translations of the FET User manual in several languages http://lalescu.ro/liviu/fet/doc

I think it would be nice, when there is an User manual in the currently set language of the FET interface, by clicking on the Help -> Online -> Help contents the User manual in the  language of the FET interface is opened.

A new action was added to the Settings-Interface menu. If it is checked (by default it is not) the index of the current tabWidget is saved and restored at next start up.

It is more complex to implement, so you decide if your want this change in your code or not.

Your are right about many things.

Of course, Liviu will decide what change to accept and what to reject.

Of course, it is better for developers to discuss their plans first and start to write code after that, and coordinate who and what is doing.

It would be worthwhile to start to maintain a code repository only if you consider this important for the overall growth of FET project, but not just for me. I would like just to help but not to create more work to you.

You see, my suggestions are changes of just 2-3 lines of code. It's easier for me to code them right away than to explain what I want to suggest. These changes make the program more comfortable for me to start it and close it many times testing the translation of interface in Bulgarian. My be these changes are not important at all for other users. I apologize for I was a bit insistent.   

May be there must be a setting: 'Remember current page' and each user to choose his own preference. I'll try to do so.

It's true. It is not hard by Kdiff3 to compare 2 directories or 2 files. But this is a routine job that I have to repeat each time you publish a new snapshot of code. Each time I have to download an archive, extract files, compare directories, compare files, merge them. If your code was in a repository, all this work could be done by just one command from QtCreator's menu.

Are you interested the number of developers that work on FET project to grow? If you are, you have to think about how to make them feel more comfortable in this project and save their time and effort.

Without a version control system is difficult to keep track of changes made by more then one developers.

Twice I tried to merge your daily snapshots with the changes I offered. It took me much time to find differences between the files I changed and the files in your snapshots. The result of this now is here: https://github.com/vanyog/FET but I can not be shore that some of changes you made are not missed.

I was enthusiastic to give some help, but I can not spend hour of time for work that could be done by several clicks.

If some new ideas come to me I will share but if you revise your position about usage of version control systems your collaboration with other developers will be much more efficient.

There are many files without extensions in src\interface directory or with shortened names. For example:

What are these files for?

This change makes possible by setting the Working directory of the exe file in QtCreator to test the current translation without copying the .qm file to another directory.

OK I will download the next snapshot you published and I'll try to merge in it my changes.

Sorry, my English is not quite good.

I have no clear plans for my participation in the FET project. Now it is interesting for me to do some work so I do it. And I do it in a way that will give other people the possibility to continue if they want. Today I made a short change in the source code:

and translated e few more strings in Bulgarian. If you like this changes you can merge them into your code.

If you like too, you can register on github.com and I will give you a write access to the repository and you will be able to remove and change all files you want. Just notice that the success of many open source projects is based on the Bazaar model  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Cathedral_and_the_Bazaar I wish you to switch on this model and attract more developers to revise and work on the code.

Using of a code repository is very convenient way for many developers to work simultaneously on a project, so I kindly advise  you to establish one for your project and start to commit the changes right after you made them. The good developers do not like to Copy-Paste, or write emails and forum posts, they prefer to get the code of a project and start to browse and work on it.
