Length= الطول
Height=الإرتفاع
Width=العرض
َ A tall man/A high building but never say a long man
A long and winding road but never say a high road
A wide opening
Thanks for your reply but I would like to pinpoint a fact .Translation abides by rules of accuracy(الدقة) and appropriateness (الملائمة). In geometry ,the dichotomy of length and width are well explained as you have aforementioned. Now the point of discord is HEIGHT. In my humble view and in complete honesty ,I have never bumped into a situation in which LONG is used interchangeably with HIGH."High" is "High" when it should be "High".So Height should mean العلو /الإرتفاع whether you contextualised it(appropriateness (الملائمة)) or just isolated it for a word to word translation (accuracy(الدقة)). And in Arabic , the chance to come across a situation in which Long stands for High is very rare if not scarce....رجل طويل=a tall man. So this is an exception to the rule.

Sometimes we do not translate word for word, but we do the translation appropriately.
