I added your suggestion in the TODO, in item #151 (and see also item #275). But I don't think I will ever make it.

i guess you mean in the "modify" dialog.
it is complicated/critical because the identity numbers might not be increased anymore if there is already added an other activity after the activity you want to modify. So that mean the activity need new activity numbers. but if they get new numbers all constraints must be checked if there must be also new numbers now.
so it is not only complicated, because a lot of constraints must be checked. it is also critical since this something you might forget if we add new constraints into the source later.

so thank you for suggestion, but i am not sure how fast your suggestion will be added.

General Stuff / Is it possible to edit split

Hi friends,
It is possible to edit a split option in activity once we entered the data in FET.
Thank you.

Hi everyone—sorry, I think I haven't been receiving forum messages for a while (or I've somehow missed them), so the compiled Mac version hasn't been updated in a while. Tomorrow I should be able to have an updated version posted. Sorry for the wait!

Thanks for the information! I added it in the README (for GNU/Linux Mint).

Report Test Results / Resolved: Problem compiling fet 5.34

I resolved myself: I had to install  the "libgl1-mesa-dev" package.

Report Test Results / Problem compiling fet 5.34

I tried o compile the last source 5.34.0 on linux Mint 18.1 Serena and  I run into the following problems:
1) after few seconds the compilation stops with error like fatal error: GL/gl.h: No such file or directory; as you reported in readme file I was able to solve by installing the "mesa-common-dev" package.
2) after 15min of compilation time, the compiler run into the following error:

g++ -Wl,-O1 -Wl,-rpath,/opt/Qt5.9.2/5.9.2/gcc_64/lib -o ../fet ../tmp/gui/timetableexport.o ../tmp/gui/activity.o ../tmp/gui/solution.o ../tmp/gui/timetable.o ../tmp/gui/rules.o ../tmp/gui/import.o   [....many included file here... snip....]   ../tmp/gui/moc_modifyconstraintstudentsminrestinghoursform.o   -L/opt/Qt5.9.2/5.9.2/gcc_64/lib -lQt5PrintSupport -lQt5Widgets -lQt5Gui -lQt5Network -lQt5Core -lGL -lpthread

what package should be installed to go on?
Thanks

General Stuff / Re: teachers with no gap!
« Last post by Volker Dirr on November 12, 2017, 12:34:22 PM »
just to give answer for other readers: i got the file and checked it already some time ago.

so a highly useful tip: please do not try to add more constraints if even your current dataset is not solveable!

To avoid those problems i recommend to:
do not add too many constraints.
only add the needed one and generate.
only if you got a succesfull result start adding more and more constraints. As soon as FET isn't able anymore to find a solution you need to:
a) use the best timetable you got so far
or
b) skip the last constranit and try to add other ones
or
c) think about why it is impossible and fix that bug (by removing an other conflicting constraint or by removing that conflict by a modified activity planning)

a dataset is impossible, if too many teachers were set not available in a timeslot; so if there are only X available teachers, but Y groups must get an activity in that slots, than it is of course impossible if X<Y (if each activity excatly contains 1 group and 1 teacher).
It is difficult to detected that by an algorithm if your students set have 2 (or more) categories with a different number of names and/or if there are several studnets and/or teachers in an single activity. Happly it is pretty easy to do a rough check as a human if X<<Y.

if you have got a full students timetable than you must have at least as many teachers as the minimum number of names in a category. If you don't have it the timetable will be impossible. Sadly it is difficult to check if the number is slightly higher. For a human it is sometimes very easy to see that (for example if you know that there must be a special category in that timeslot), but i fear it will be very very complicated to code such a check.)

Talk It Up! / Re: Quantum computers

If you want to see and code a quantum computer, than have a look here:

pictures and some more information (i guess nobody will place such an 5 qbit computer on his desktop):
https://www.ibm.com/blogs/ibm-anz/quantum-computing-101/

if you want to know how to code that computer:
https://www.qiskit.org/

You can sent your code to IBM and let them calculate your program. See:
