I have yet to make a timetable but was wondering if FET could solve this problem.

IF a teacher moves to another school during the academic year, is it possible to use other teachers to do his lessons without having to rewrite the whole timetable for everyone? This has happened at the school in which I work and four teachers (2 from the school, 1 brought in 3 days per week and 1 brought in just for Mondays) have filled the lessons of the teacher who left. Could FET sort this?

Thanks
Dave

Difficult to answer. It's depending on you planning, new teachers, requirements and/or difficult of your timetable.

if you have done a good planing (or simply have a bit of luck) it is very easy:
load the saved timetable, unlock the the activities of the teacher. update the activities (so change teacher names) and generate again. Ready after a few seconds :-) . We do this sometimes, but i must admit that we knew about the leaving teacher already some month before and cared about that situation already while planning the timetable.

if you forgot to plan this situation (or didn't know before), the previous trick is maybe impossible. In that case you can do this:
do the similar trick, but unlock also the activities of all 4 effected teachers.

if this situation is still impossible, then you should read and do this: (see link)
http://www.timetabling.de/manual/FET-manual.en.html#id_38
(In short: unlock all activities, but add several needed "not available times" constraints.)

in worst case you need to generate a totally new timetable.
