Hello.

One thing I noticed was that after I made a modification to a year group category--even just a simple rename--it removed all constraints and activities attached to that category.  Is this the case, or have I done/remember something incorrectly?

If this is indeed the case, is there any way around that?  It may make editing a timetable very time consuming.  If I've created a large timetable with many activities and constraints, just renaming a year group category could result in many hours of work that has to be re-done.

On a related note, I observed that when *adding* a new year group category, the activities/constraints tied to the existing categories remained unchanged (despite FET warnings).  This was a great relief.

Thanks again.

You may want to rename from the groups dialog. But the subgroups will not be renamed.

When you divide a year by categories for a second time, all students sets which will be available also with the same exact name after the division will be kept, along with their activities and constraints. FET will tell you which sets will be removed.

You can also modify the .fet XML file by hand, in the "<Students_List>" section, keeping the other sections unmodified. Be careful and make backups.

OK thanks.  As I experiment more I may have some more questions on this topic.

Thank you for the XML-editing tip.  As I gain more experience, I may play around with that.
