Hi all,

I was wondering if it was possible to stop and resume (at a later time) the generation of a timetable, for example if one needs badly to switch off the PC but doesn't want to loose the N-hours of elaboration done so far.

Thank you all for your excellent work!
Regards, Mark.

Thank you for your suggestion and appreciation!

This is already in the TODO list, see items #196 and #277. I added also your words (on my hard disk file).

It can be done, but it involves a lot of tedious work; at the same time it might be difficult and having critical parts.

Hi Liviu,
thank you for considering my suggestion. I was not aware of the TODO list, sorry for posting a duplicate request.
Regards, Mark  :)

No problem for posting a duplicate suggestion, actually I add your name to the list of persons suggesting it, and it helps me identify popular requests. The TODO list is a file inside the FET archive - you can see it with a simple text editor.

On xubuntu 16.04 64bit, instead of just shutting down the machine, you can select "save session for future logins". I've never tried this option, but most likely, by saving the state of the machine you can shut down your PC and then resume the generation of your timetable. If you have a windows machine, I don't know if there is any similar option. But you can install a virtual machine (for example on virtual box), install FET on your virtual machine (either linux or windows) start generating the timetable and then press "save snapshot" on your virtual machine. Then, shut down your PC and when you want to resume the generation of your timetable, restart your virtual machine by selecting the above snapshot. I think that this should work.
