Hello everyone.

Thank you in advance for taking the time to read our problems.

I have the following situation:

In the establishment we have different breaks (one for children and one for teenagers) and I can not condition the teachers who work at both levels.

Any idea will be appreciated.

Different variants:

a) Search the smallest unit you can use. Maybe 15 min or 5 min and use that as FET hour/duarion.

But this might be pretty slow.

b) Talk with the people in power if you (the whole school) can't increase the smallest unit (see a), since it will help very much.

This mean you might need to change the start/end times, but it will be much faster/easer to eenerate a timetable.

c) Do a good activity plannning. So try to have as less teachers in both levels as possible. Than use "teachers not available" for that guys. So for example teacher A is not available in level "teenages" at early hour and not available in level "children" at late hours. Or do a similar trick with different days.

disadvantage: You must think a bit to get a nice solution.
advantage: you might get a fast solution without changing the times.

and come back here and let us know what you think. The important constraint is 'activities occupy max time slots from selection', but you may need to add a lot of such constraints.

(I found the links above searching the forum for "occupy max").

Ah.. yes. so and:

d) overlapping times like Liviu said. I am not sure about the advantages and disadvantages here.
