Thanks for you answer. It gives direction where to look if I
experience problems.

Something of a different kind now. I am running a timetable spread over 10 days (Gr 12 will attend all 10 days)
Grades 7 to 11 will only attend 5 of the 10 days (i.e uneven grade numbers attend on uneven numbered days & even grade numbers attend on even numbered days).

So theoretically a teacher can attend 80 classes (i.e 80x2).

Please note Grade 7E, teachers Z. Chosi & Mbawuli, A,.

7E needs 12 more periods (12 x2).
The timetable for 7E needs 12 More periods (12x2) and there is 24 open spaces on the timetable.
However FET wont pack/allocate the last 12 periods, though 7E can take 40 periods in total.

How do we explain this.

I basically had to pack two timetables, 1 for even numbered grades and 1 for uneven numbered grades, hoping to eliminate the problem, but to no avail.

Seems like Z, Chosi does not have enough time slots.
the number of slots each day is 20 , minus two breaks = 18 lessons.
The problem is that all of his/her lessons are even number lessons. Therefore, the effective number of lessons is 16*5=80 only. ( The 1st and last lesson are not effective.)

Question: What takes preference Chosi having more than 40 time slots (resulting in FET not packing timetable)

or 7E having 40 time slots, which by the way have not been filled yet.

I am just trying to make sense here.
