I'm new to FET so please bear with me...

PLease see if you can help this one, I hope its an easy one.

Trying to set my subjects periods up, but have realized that I need to change the length of upper & lower school.   Lower school runs on 45 mins lessons, but upper school runs on 90 mins lessons.  I also need to create extension lessons that run for 30 mins.

Ive attached what Ive done so far, any help hugely appreciated.

Kind regards

You need to say that a FET hour = 15 real minutes. 30 real minutes = 2 FET hours, 45 real minutes = 3 FET hours, 90 real minutes = 6 FET hours.

Am starting to realise this, does this then mean that I build each lesson up in 15 sections to reach the 30 mins or 90 mins lesson?  COUld you also advise how I would group them together to build the schedule pls?  thanks so much for your reply

I modified my above message a bit. The duration of the activities should be: 30 real minutes = 2 FET hours, 45 real minutes = 3 FET hours, 90 real minutes = 6 FET hours (so duration 2, 3 or 6).

just to check then-
I go to data>basic>days and hrs>hrs per week?  I cant seem to see where I can find the activities duration and fet hrs?
:(  really sorry I must seem a bit dumb

No, suppose you have real hours from 7:00 to 8:30 (small example), then add hours per day 7:00, 7:15, 7:30, 7:45, 8:00, and 8:15, then each activity will have duration (specified in the add activity dialog) of 2, 3, or 6.

trolt

erhh, sorry but you've just confused me, can you break it down a bit for  me pls?

Liviu Lalescu

Please see the attached file, with 3 activities, according to my example above.

Ok, starting to look good.  Next question - the sections in the timetable are now showing to run over 45 mins - great , but I want them to cover the 3 blocks withoout saying so three times as this looks to much and will make staff think they have 3 lessons instead of one, any advice?  Can I block them together into one to cover ti=he timescale or colour them sepeartely or something like this?

On my liviu.fet file above, if you go to Timetable/Print, or open the HTML timetables from the hard disk, the 3 cells for the 45 minutes activity are united. Only on the Timetable/View they are separated, but that does not matter.

trolt

wow!!! Your a star!
Is it possible to block the timings into certain cells? eg - 07:00 -07:45 runs over 3 times (as Ive set them up for 15 min intervals due to other lessons running on 30mins and 90mins)  can I design the layout so that it refers to this timebracket as Block1?  Also, can I use colours to seperate them?
Tks so much for you advise, youve been extremely helpful!!

I think you need to add an activity tag for activities with duration 3, and in the generated HTML timetables you can add a certain color for a certain activity tag, if you use a higher HTML level of the timetables.

The timetables will contain the name of this activity tag in the cells.

HI again, I having problems with the following:

Is it possible to allocate a teacher who teaches a group 3 times a week onto his timetable?
Do I have to add each one individually or can I do it one and then say he teaches the group 3 times and it is automatically put on his timetable?
Also, how do I state the maximum number of hrs allocated for teachers before they go over the allocation.  Because my lessons are 45 / 30 /90 mins depending on the day, Ive built them up in increments of 15mins, do I have to count 15 's for the week?
