Hello
many thanks for this magnificent tool .....

I encountered the following need when using FET. For all students I put a lunch break of one hour. Then I imposed to the students a limit of gaps per week.

Is there a way to distinguish between a gap that falls in the middle of the morning (or afternoon) from a gap that's adjacent to the lunch break ?
The second type, in my case, hurts much less than the former...

Thanks for your help

Directly, not.

Using tricks: I think the Moroccan/Algerian type of school suits your case. In their case, they have each day divided into two parts, morning and afternoon. It is not allowed to have gaps in the morning or in the afternoon, but it is allowed between them.

The trick is to consider each real day D = two FET days: D_1 (morning) and D_2 (afternoon). Then Moroccan/Algerian impose maximum number of gaps per FET day/week = 0. See Custom section of FET homepage for more details about that. You could impose maximum gaps per FET week/day in this trick, and obtain good results. You need to take care of other things, if you use this trick.

Please let me know, I'll detail more when needed.

That's ingenious...I'll give a try and report back.

Otherwise related to your second solution (impose maximum gaps per FET week), I've done it by imposing 2 gaps per student per week; the results are satisfactory but several gaps persist in the middle of the morning or afternoon.

No, I meant adding max gaps per FET day/week when using the trick. I edited my previous post to make this clear.

I can tell you that Moroccan/Algerian users were very satisfied with this trick.

Yes, I'm actually testing your solution that starts working very well. I will keep going in that direction and inform you of the evolution. Thanks again....
