Buongiorno,
qualcuno sa indicarmi quale sia il miglior modo per evitare troppe ore al sabato e al lunedì per tutti gli insegnanti?
Grazie

Liviu Lalescu

Scusi l'inglese:

Maybe you could use constraint activities max simultaneous in selected time slots. Activities = all, selected time slots = Saturday and Monday, max simultaneous = how many you allow.

You can read the help for this constraint in its dialog.

Hi Liviu,
thank you for response; it isn't matter of activities, but of number of hours worked by teachers: a few teachers at work on saturday and monday, so too many hours worked by the present ones. Tnank you again.

I am sorry, but I do not understand exactly your situation.

Maybe you could give me an example file or describe more detailed the situation.

Hi Liviu,
sorry for my english, my school has about 110 teachers, 40 of whom don't work on saturday, so their collegues have to work 4 or 5 hours on that day. My boss wants to diminish teachers not working on saturdays, so the other teachers will work less hours on that day. Can fet allocate teachers free days homogeneously, 20 - 25% each day? Thank you very much.

Buon giorno, utismetis,

There might be two variants:

1) To make teachers work less hours on Saturday: for each teacher who can work on Saturday, add a constraint activities occupy max time slots from selection, all activities of this teacher, select Saturday, and add the max number of hours he can work on Saturday. You can start with larger values and lower them.

or

2) Instead of teachers max days per week, add an activity with duration n_hours_per_day for each teacher who can work on Saturday. Then add a constraint activities max simultaneous in selected time slots, activities = these dummy ones, selected slots = all slots, max simultaneous ~= number_of_teachers_who_work_Saturday / 6 (first try a larger number, then lower it). Or, maybe better, selected slots = all slots of Saturday.

Buongiorno Liviu,
i had thought about variant 1, i haven't understood variant 2.
Thank you very much

Liviu Lalescu

For (2): you have a week with 6 days and all teachers have max days per week = 5, isn't it?

Then, instead of this constraint for each teacher add a dummy activity without students, a dummy subject, and which has duration = n_hours_per_day.

Then, add a constraint activities max simultaneous in selected time slots, the activities are these dummy ones, max simultaneous = 20..25% from the number of all the teachers, occupied slots = all slots from Saturday or all slots of the week (you can try in both ways).

You can read the help for this constraint to see what it does.

If I am wrong, show me how I am wrong. Maybe show a counterexample.

I am sorry if this is not very understandable or if I am mistaking. I am a bit tired. Maybe others can write here.

Hi Liviu,
i want teachers have 5 days per week, sometimes i use a dummy activity of 5 hours if i want fet give a random free day to a teacher, i don't understand the purpose of "activities are these dummy ones, max simultaneous = 20..25% from the number of all the teachers, occupied slots = all slots from Saturday or all slots of the week (you can try in both ways)", i'm afraid that teachers work 6 day per week. I'm just beginning timetable, i have lack of teachers and i haven't yet allocate activities. Thank you very much for your answer.

If all the teachers should work only 5 days per week, then add each one a dummy activity. If not, I am not sure the trick is possible.

For the purpose of that constraint: in each selected slot, there can be no more than x activities from these, simultaneously. You can read the help for this constraint (there is a Help button there).

many teachers, not all, work 5 days; I'll read help.
Thank you very much.
