Thank you for your post!

Unfortunately, this is a feature, not a bug  :-[

FET will retain in this dialog the last division, because in the .fet input file there is no information about categories and divisions, only years, groups, and subgroups.

You need to select "Divide year" again for the year you want to modify, and input again the existing divisions/categories for this year, carefully so that they are the same, then add more divisions/categories and divide again. In this way you won't lose information (FET will report if you will lose students or activities or constraints). I advise you to make a backup of your file before this.

Off-topic: I am interested, what distribution are you using? (I assume GNU/Linux.)

i use a old laptop (hp6730b) and i have install pepermint10 linux (ubuntu based distro)
thank you for help...!!!

Liviu Lalescu

You are welcome!  :)

I liked your screenshot (the layout/look of your desktop). I just saw Peppermint is based on LXDE, which is good for me (I don't want GNOME or KDE, I have XFCE on my home computer). But I do not like the Ubuntu style of package manger (I am exploring different distributions for my mother's laptop, which crashes/locks on my usual preferred, openSUSE, after a few hours usage, and which has now Manjaro Deepin, recommended by a friend, which is difficult to use).

as i say above i use a old laptop (hp6730b, 2G RAM)
I use lightweight distro ...I have 2 partitions
1) pepermint10 64bit(ubuntu based)with 5.35.5 FET
2) Antix 32bit (debian based) with 5.30.8 FET it is very fast and lighweight

how can upgrade FET to last version (in ubuntu and debian )?
have FET app image without install ?
i download last version but i dont know how install ,i make executable but starts 5.35.5 version...
in 8G RAM system what linux you think is better? ubuntu based? debian based? opensushe (gnome or KDE)? or Manjaro Deepin?
I have good feelings about KDE team and works...
i use only LINUX for many years and  i have try many distros with more time in Ubuntu and second openshuse ...i dont have give many days to manjaro...
tell me your thoughts if you want

Either use FET precompiled by me for GNU/Linux (near the end of the downloads page of FET), or compile (you said you can, and this is my preferred option). If you compiled, you can run "sudo make install". If this does not work or if you use my precompiled, you can run with "./fet" from the fet-v.v.v directory. Or you can copy the fet executable file in /usr/bin, the translation files in /usr/share/fet/translations, with root access. Ask me more if you cannot succeed or let me know if you succeed.

I think it is best if you uninstall your distribution FET before that.

I love openSUSE. I use Tumbleweed with XFCE. But on my mother's laptop it hangs/crashes after a few hours. So I needed to install Manjaro Deepin, which I don't like too much.

I didn't like Ubuntu, and I don't like GNOME at all. KDE is slow in my opinion and has many useless features.

Me too, I use only GNU/Linux, Windows is only to release FET executable for Windows.

i try but i cant...
which fille must put in /usr/bin ?
can you help me please ...?
I try this to second partition with antix... (pepermint10 is my master OS)

Oh, looks like you did not manage to compile.

Get the precompiled: https://lalescu.ro/liviu/fet/download/gnu-linux-executables/

Unpack, then run or make a shortcut to the fet executable.

Please let me know.

Volker Dirr

You downloaded the source files. You need to compile them.

You can try the already compiled version. See chapter 8:
https://lalescu.ro/liviu/fet/download.html

or have a look here: (the last file)
https://lalescu.ro/liviu/fet/download/gnu-linux-executables/

@Liviu: hmm... Chapter 8 and 4 are a bit "confusing", maybe should be closer together. Also that offical FET is the last one is a bit bad.

I'll try to improve soon.

Done, Volker, please let me know if it is OK now.

I am glad it works!

There is no need to install the GNU/Linux executable, it is better to move the fet-5.40.2 directory to a place you prefer and make a shortcut to the fet executable.

You could try "sudo make install", but I am not sure it will work.
